We decided to go back to the coach house for a New year break, after our stay in september 2013. We were not disappointed, we had a warm welcome from the minute we arrived. The food was excellent as always, & our room was cosy & warm. The New year celebrations were just what we wanted. we had a lovely indian buffet made up of many different currys. which was a welcome change from all the party food, we had previously eaten over the christmas. a few of the local people joined the party. & was nice to meet them. Although the weather was a bit wet, it not ruin our break at all. As it is the only place i have found that i can realy say i relax. The snug is lovely to sit & chill in front of a nice open fire with a glass of wine . We have already booked to go back in March, with parents & family. Thankyou again Debbie & Wayne Yvonne & Dean the chef. for a lovely break look forward to seeing you soon

Room Tip: If you have any problems with stairs or walking. this hotel is perfect as it has 3 rooms on the grou...

My wife and I stayed at this Hotel a few days prior to Xmas. It was difficult to find [without sat nav], but once we did, we were extremely happy to find the place warm, cosy and clean and welcoming. It is situated about 5-10 mins drive from the main town, or a 45 minute walk if that is what you prefer [a very nice walk indeed]. Aside from the very genial atmosphere, we would both heartily recommend the food! I have eaten in many restaurants around the world, and the steaks we ate here were up with the best - superb, and very well priced. The meat is all sourced from local farms I believe. If you're after a relaxing stay in the countryside [near the moors] - look no further.

Room Tip: Nare in mind the hotel is some 45 minute walk to twon of Tavistock.

We stayed here over Christmas and Boxing day for two nights with friends and the hosts were really welcoming and really couldn't do enough to help us celebrate Christmas.
The rooms were clean and tidy, if a little basic, although we were informed they have plans for refurbishments throughout.
The food was some of the best flavours and tastes that we've come across in quite a while.
Breakfast choice was great and the scrambled egg was to die for.
We spent a fair amount of time in the snug around the open fire and the owners were so attentive throughout the day, nothing was too much.
It was a great place to celebrate Christmas and whilst a long working day for the owners, they really went to town to make sure everyone enjoyed the day. The Christmas dinner was very good.
if the rooms are brought up to the standard of the food at the venue, then it could be a destination gastro venue to spend some quality time.

My husband and myself stayed there for one night on Sun 24th Nov and have been very busy ever since. But at last I have found a few spare minutes to write a comment. What a lovely place to stay. It is small, very friendly with a welcoming atmosphere. The rooms are very comfortable and well maintained. The restaurant was very pleasant and had a excellent menu. The flavours of the food was delicious and presentation was a high standard. There is a small bar and snug which we could relaxin and talk to the owners.
We would like to say thank you very much to Debbie, Shane and Yvonne for making us feel so welcome and comfortable and continually putting logs on the fire. We plan to return again.
I can highly recommend the Coach House for an overnight stay or short break.
Love
Richard and Judi x

Just returned from a very enjoyable one night's stay at this warm, cosy hotel in the Devon countryside. The staff are friendly, helpful and flexible. We were there to spend some time with our daughter who is working nearby and celebrate Christmas with her as she will be working. We enjoyed a lovely afternoon, sitting in the snug and enjoying drinks from the bar and had a super dinner in the evening - highly recommend the fillet steak and the wine choices were excellent. Our room was comfortable, warm (which was great as we were both recovering from colds) and the bathroom well equipped with modern shower with heaps of hot water which is always welcome! We had our dog with us and again, no problems/restrictions and she enjoyed her breakfast sausage cooked to perfection. This is a great value hotel with high standards and welcoming staff and we look forward to a return visit in the Spring. Many thanks again.

We had a 2 night stay here back in October....sorry only just got round to writing this. Made very welcome by the whole family. Nothing was too much trouble. Lovely to be able to sit and have a drink in the bar before going into the dining room where the food was amazing and great value for money. Good wine choice too. Lots of places to visit in the area
