Decided too stop by for a light lunch and drink. Upon entering we were greeted by a waiter who eyed us up and down! It was a bright sunny day so we sat with views over farm and land beyond, given a menu and then promptly ignored for 15 minutes. We had explained we did not want a full Sunday dinner just something light but the menu didn't accommodate our choice. The only thing considered light was the soup which would have been fine. We had asked for 5 minutes to browse the menu and this was ok. However despite not being busy and several waiters meandering around, no one came to take our order or offer a drink, so we decided to leave. Having told the waiter why on the way out he simply shrugged his shoulders as if to say "oh well". So unfortunately never got to try the food.

“Good food on a bleak winter day”
Reviewed March 23, 2013

Chanced upon this place on our travels along the A26 and had a very delicious lunch. We had no expectations, having never visited or heard of it before, but our appetites were more than sated. Quite a small menu, about 5 or 6 choices for starters and main, but more than adequate. I had wonderful sea bass fillet, my dining companions had guinea fowl and sausage and mash. There were also jacket potatoes etc. All served with a good selection of potatoes and veg and very generous portions. Sadly too full for dessert but they looked lovely. Staff friendly and helpful. The place is set in beautiful grounds with llamas and sheep in the fields. Stunning view at the back with a terrace to sit out on; this would be a nice place to come back to when the weather warms up. There is also a tea room serving amazing looking cakes etc. We would certainly return if ever in the vicinity again.

“Very disapointing”
Reviewed March 19, 2013

We were impressed by the outside and entrance of the building but what a let down the restaurant was.
The restaurant is very dated and was very cold. Our food was very mediocre - it certainly did not meet our expectations for this venue. Our red wine was served very cold. Waitress was attentative.
I would not recommend or return
