I had read good reviews on trip advisor but many mentioned it as being expensive so I was expecting a bill in excess of £100.00!!
We had a lovely 2 course meal with a glass of wine. Duck breast for main and Poached Spiced Pear & Panacota for desert both of which were delicious. The bill came to £52.00 which I thought was reasonable for an excellent meal. The Pub is tastefully furnished with an eclectic mix of paintings and mismatched wooden tables and chairs.

The service was just right allowing plenty of time for conversation but not feeling ignored. We arrived early and the menus were being printed. Always a good sign, not the same old menu day after day so hopefully fresh ingrediants. There was a lot of choice for both meat eaters, fish eaters and vegetarians. We were asked how the food was on each course. Plates were cleared in plenty of time before the next course was ordered (unlike a previous contributor's experience)The owner, Lenka, introduced herself and all the staff were very friendly. This pub/restaurant is definitely worth going out of your way for, as it's along a windy narrow country road. We will be back again with friends and family. A little tip book in advance as Friday and Saturday nights are very busy. This was my 2nd attempt to get a meal here the first time it was fully booked. Glad I persevered though!!!

Food, atmosphere and service always excellent. Can be a little pricey, but worth it for a treat. Hope it continues.

There are only a few pubs within a 10 mile radius that deserve mention as being first class for the food they produce and the Hurstwood is one. Martin and Lenka offer a good menu that has excellent cooking. The pedigree of the Griffin where they both worked shows (which of course is another in the top 10)
Good atmosphere and Harveys. You will not be disappointed!

The young Czech couple who've taken this on have style, great management skills and know how to recruit and motivate great young staff. The ale is superb, though could do with more than just two, and the food is terrific but prices are eye-wateringly high.
It has, unfortunately, become the place for people with new Range Rover Vogue (black is the preferred colour, but we note some in 'chav white' creeping in). This pub could be a victim of its own success because when the yummy-mummy crowd 'discover' a new gem, then off will go Arabella, Ludo and babies Ptolemy and Scarlet and the pub will be empty.
It is absolutely not a pub to visit just for a drink at busy times as there is nowhere to stand, let alone sit. A shame as the decor is great as are - never thought I'd write this about a pub - the loos. For some reason there's always half an orange in men's urinals. Are they taking the pith?

We feel this is a restaurant and not a pub.
You could say 'A SHEEP IN WOLVES CLOTHING' rustic on the outside but on the inside cosy and very.comfortable.
Service and food very good ,a little pricey however for a restaurant and not a pub to be expected.
The Lamb in Piltdown has similar decor and menu. not associated.
My choice would be The Hurstwood.
