From the first we moment we turned up to when we checked out, the customer service was truly 5*. The Receptionist and Bar Manager are two stars who spring to mind but all the restaurant staff were equally attentive. The hotel itself is delightful and set in a beautiful setting. The rooms were immaculate and the beds extremely comfortable. In summary, go for the setting (and afternoon tea) and enjoy customer service from those who really want you to enjoy your stay.

Needed a classy and quiet hotel at short notice to treat my wife. Pleasantantly happy with the relaxed surroundings and attentive attitude of all the staff. This being from arrival through to departure.
Evening meal was superb, once I'd studied and understood the menu.
Unfortunately the weather was somewhat on the by cold side, and wasn't able to fully appreciate the full extent of the grounds and walks, other than a quick walk to the lovely St Margaret's Church adjacent to the hotel.

The room, 'executive style' had only been refurbished recently and was very tasteful and sympathetic to the building's architecture and history, yet with all mods cons etc except wifi reception it seemed (but that was not a necessary require on this visit).

Would love to return to the hotel in the summer months if only to enjoy a good walk about the surrounding grounds.

just returned from a night away from the kids to take advantage of another handpicked hotels offer.

We booked a junior suite and were allocated the Basil Lonides room. This was a spectacular space with high ceilings and a sumptuous bed. The bathroom was well appointed and a very deep bath allowing for a nice pre-dinner soak.

On arrival check-in was prompt and polite and the reception staff dealt with our request of a change of dining time.

Dinner was very good, with staff in the compact dining room always available but never intrusive. My congratulations to the chef and their team for the meal, especially the ham-hock terrine my wife and I had for a starter.

So to sleep and a very comfortable bed. I slept soundly but my wife reported in the morning some peculiar noises including a scream from the bathroom that she put down to supernatural causes (personally I suspect it may have been wine induced) and said she did not sleep well. Make of that what you will but the hotel details included in our room did mention that visitors of the ethereal kind had been reported previously.

Breakfast was very nice and it was a very pleasant surprise to get hot toast as most hotels only seem to manage the luke-warm kind. Staff were rushed a little by the sudden influx of guests at about 9am but coped admirably and always with a smile on their faces.

Dear Guest

Thank you for taking the time to place a review on Trip Advisor.

I must say it is the first review I have read where other powers may have been at work rather than the tremendous team here at the hotel.

Thank you for your food recommendation which I will pass onto Neil my head chef and his team.

I was pleased to read that you enjoyed breakfast and we were able to eclipse many other hotels and serve warm toast!

On behalf of all the team here at Buxted we look forward to welcoming you back to the hotel in the very near future.

Stayed for one night on one of the hand picked packages and had a very relaxing night. The hotel is all large rooms with tall ceilings, and perhaps not quite as cosy as some we have stayed in. However it has a lovely bar with roaring fire and the evening meal was one of the best hotel meals I have ever tasted! Compliments to the chef and can thoroughly recommend the cheese trolley!

Our room overlooked the massive grounds which were ample to stroll around the next morning. I must also say a big thank you to the staff who helped reunite me with an item I had left in the hotel; such great service!

Room Tip: Go for a downstairs room with doors opening onto the lawn and your own patio area

Our second stay at this delightful country Hotel. Super setting, comfortable room, delightful food and good service - nearly excellent but not quite. Should have been offered help with our luggage, email dinner reservation either lost or forgotten but they managed to fit us in, but the charm of the staff made up for the shortcomings.
For a relaxing break in the country, if you get the right deal, hard to beat.

Good: Staff Very Friendly and Professional
Hotel Grounds
Ambience

Bad: Slow Food Service (Including Afternoon Tea)
Dinner Reservation Times For Hotel Guests (was only offered 9pm ..... too late!)
Hotel Entrance/Reception
Value For Money (have had far better hotel experience for the same £'s)

Hotel is in a very old building, therefore I can make allowances for it's aged appearance. It does however give the impression that the hotel has been opened up to guests, before being 100% ready to call itself a 4 Star establishment. With that said, improvements to the interior are being carried out (guessed that by paint smell in corridor) ...... suggest leaving it a few years before visiting
