After many years I popped in to the King William IV purely by chance and found that it is now under new management as of about 2 weeks ago. I had a pint of Breakspears ordinary and was gratified ti find that it is still served from the keg as it has been there for the more than 20 years since I've been going there. It was excellent. The view from the pub only changes with the seasons and for anyone who wants a nice pub meal , an exquisite pint and a vista to replenish the soul, do pop in. I remember the previous landlord who, perhaps it suffices to say, was slightly old fashioned in his approach to customer service. Not so now with new management. I was welcomed like a friend and contentedly warmed my bones by the open fire. I even bought half a dozen eggs to take home. The pub is open all day too, which is a bonus. It is well worth the slight detour off the main drag to drink in the view, the ale and the tranquility. Highly recommended for an honest pub. I'll be there again soon and will eat. I'll let you know about the food, but the menu looked as honest as the ale tasted.
