“Good place to spend an evening”
Reviewed September 27, 2012 via mobile

The Old Post Office is quite a large bistro type resteraunt but still retains an intimate feel. Great to have a drink or cocktail, lovely for breakfast too ...
Good food, sharing platters and baked Camembert delicious! Good meals, meals, sometimes just too much food!

“Old Post Office needs no sorting”
Reviewed September 24, 2012

After an early morning drive from Cheshire to Wallingford we called at the Old Post Office for a well deserved breakfast.
The menu was clear and concise and the food and service was first class.
The restaurant was very clean and the decor was excellent.
Would not hesitate to call in again when next in the vicinity.

“Good food, nice atmosphere”
Reviewed September 17, 2012

We visited the Old Post Office for a drink but the food looked and smelt so good we decided to stay for dinner. We were seated quickly and the restaurant was very busy for a Monday night which is always a good sign. There was a good selection on the menu and myself and my husband both went for a pasta dish. Food came out quickly and was piping hot. We couldn't decide on dessert so we went for a trio of desserts which were very nice although at £8 a little pricey for the size. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere was great. Overall, I would recommend and will definitely return if in the area.

“Good quality and a little different”
Reviewed September 14, 2012

I have eaten here a few times now and am impressed with the range of food available. it is not the average pub menu with all the same boring stuff on. quality is good and atmosphere is also good. the only problem i had is with the cheese selection being a little to 'ripe' for my liking, i would have preferred a choice with at least a good quality cheddar on.

“Too much food. And it's not often I say that.”
Reviewed September 7, 2012

An impressive building. We nearly left before eating as we hung around in the bar/foyer looking lost and being ignored by at least three staff members before we gave up and asked the barman whether we needed to seat ourselves or carry on waiting. We were then seated (in a half empty room) right next to the kitchen/bar. (We moved ourselves to a quieter, cooler table.)
Moules Frites were pleasant, if over salted, and would have benefited from having the barnacles removed from the shells and the grit filtered out of the soup.
The Superfood Couscous Salad contained about half a pound of large couscous (not billed as such on the menu - we were expecting it to be regular couscous, not 'pearls') and huge quantities of broccoli. It was decorated with lurid swirls of Barbie-purple sauce (beetroot dressing). Apparently the taste and textures were good, but the quantity was ridiculous - way too much food on the plate.
That said, after the initial difficulties, the staff were attentive, the atmosphere was pleasant and the food acceptable: we might eat there again if in Wallingford, but would not go to Wallingford on purpose to eat there.
