Owner description: Located above Warrington Central Library, Warrington Museum is one of the oldest municipal museums in the country. Much of the quintessential character of the building has been preserved and its original glass cabinets are crammed with treasures from all over the world. Work from acclaimed artists is also on display in the art gallery, and there is a lively program of events, activities and temporary exhibitions. Admission is free!

This is a great free day out for the kids. There's loads to look at and interactive sections in most of the rooms. Its the perfect place to spend a few hours away from the noise in Warrington town centre. I can't recommend it highly enough.

As a child we would visit Warrington Museum and Art Gallery and attend the various workshops for children. I remember once seeing a penny farthing bicycle in the display exhibit and feeling a sense of wonder from this small, mysterious, Victorian museum. There are always great exhibits: from The Muppets to characters from the Labyrinth/The works of Brian Froud with good launch parties to go with them.

The Egyptian exhibition is always a wonder to see; look out for the mummified hand - a friend of mine used to have nightmares about it being under her bed!

The shop contains unusual gifts so be sure to go or just sit and have a coffee upstairs.

Quite frankly my favourite place in Warrington!

As a Warrington 'lad' I've been to the museum on numerous occasions. I always see something different or from a different aspect when I go. For me it's brill. Remember we're not a city so please don't compare it with the big city museums.
