“a nice day at gullivers world”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 13, 2006

myself and my 5 year old daughter have just got back home after a day at Gullivers near Warrington. we only live in manchester, but have never got around to visiting the place until today.

we got there early (10:30am) and there were no queues either to pay or for any of the rides at this time in the morning. my first impressions were positive - clean place, nice open lay out. we picked a path and wandered down it and hopped on each and every ride we encountered. by the time we were ready to come home (3pm) we had been on everything at least once and been around the site twice.

the rides are perfect for a five year old. not too fast but some of them mini versions of grown up rides so help them feel 'big'.

my negatives were that most of the rides and various areas of visible site were a bit shabby - the land in the dinosaur area which were witnessed during the train ride, was a bit of a junk yard for old bits of rides and dinosaurs, and though the alice in wonderland garden with car ride may once have been nice, old leaves had covered some of the plastic flowers and the garden decoration needed some love and attention. the circus ride was awful - very dusty and rather sad.

however, i must comment on the staff - each and every one had a smile for us and some went out of their way to be kind to my daughter. as soon as we had entered the place, gulliver mouse approached us to wave hello and to offer big furry hugs!

the price of food was not bad and i noticed loads of eating areas which we may use when we go again with a picnic - and we will go again. £9.99 Per person is not a bad price for a full day out with unlimited access to all the rides when compared to the average price of £1.50 per ride per person at most travelling fairs these days.

“not happy”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 20, 2006

We found it poor value, 3 children and 2 adults i personally thought our youngest age 3 was very limited, yet her entrance fee should have meant otherwise. The facilities for eating were most disappointing, as they dirty and the staff unfriendly. Also one restuarant had no trays for carrying food, another after waiting 20 mins tells us they are out of stock 12.30pm, and an ice cream seller who is also out of stock!. We should not make comparisons two other parks, however the people at gullivers world could do worse than take a leaf out of the book from disney, whom i think they are at times trying to copy. I was not happy one bit £50 down the spout.

“not impressed”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 17, 2006

itook my child to gullivers world in warrington last year, my young daughter thought it was great, the only thing was she wasnt allowed on a lot of the rides without an adult, which is not a problem if you like rides i myself can't stand them so my daughter was very limited, and if you have more than one young child you cant take them both on at the same time so you wouldnt get value for money as there would be a lot of rides you could not go on.

“Good Day, but..”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 16, 2006

We agree with the other reviews - definately a good day out for under 10s. We took the advice offered on these pages and took a picnic - a good move judging by the ques for food etc.

Two things to be wary of, firstly, as someone else mentioned, all of the rides take twice as long to get on and off as there is one member of staff ushering people off, and can't let anyone else on until the ride is cleared - even on bank holiday!

Secondly the amount of people smoking around the park was frightening. To be fair the park have smoking policy - it is only allowed in dedicated areas. This was always ignored and on six or seven rides my 4 year old daughter was subjeted to other people's smoke.
