As a national retailer I work across the UK and stay in a variety of hotels. I normally book late and search by 4 star hotels. This hotel is barely a 2 star. Its old, dirty with rooms equal to a dated blackpool hotel. There is a lot of building work which we were not informed about.

I felt extremely dissapointed that I had not been informed about the state of the hotel and mislead about the star rating. I left an hour after arriving and moved to a true 4 star hotel nearby.

I would never return to this hotel.

as far as value for money goes its not a bad hotel, stayed just 1 night and ate in the bar area.......
the Room was more than adequate for 1 night, comfortable bed, power shower that is almost too much to handle but it sure does gets you clean !!
Drink prices in the bar rather high, 2 pints cost over £8 !!!
ordered food in the bar area, however this was rather a slow service, had starter and main and it too 1hr for the main course to arrive after chasing it twice, tasted ok but nothing special.
didn't use the leisure facilities so no comment there.
Breakfast was help yourself and was pretty good, plenty of choice.
    all round a decent experience.

Room Tip: better rooms are available for the more frequent visitor or you have to pay more.

Stopped here some time ago when it was under different ownership and must have paid at least double what we did this time. The single beds in my room were high and wobbly - felt like was at sea but room fine otherwise. Bar and restaurant both very tired and service in restaurant very slow especially for wine despite asking three times over the 20 odd minutes where it was. Signs of renovation going on which is badly needed but cheap and in a great business location so would stop again

That's all we needed! The leisure facilities were that last thing DeVere did before legging it. Thank you DeVere. As Britannia had only taken over last year we knew it couldn't be that bad here yet. fortunately our guess was right. we suspect many staff are ex-DeVere - but many others clearly weren't. The breakfast was the best I've ever had at a Britannia - and I told the chef how lovely her eggs were. The restaurant was clean, and the food was plentiful and edible. Not a combination usually found in this hotel group. At £39 for two B&B this was good value. We agree with others the heating was poor - but as we don't feel the cold we managed with a blanket. There's builders with jackhammers on site - so if you arrive before 4pm don't expect any rest for your spa break. They don't start again until after 9am - so all in all - one of the quietest nights away i've had in a while.

Room Tip: Lovely beds left by DeVere - enjoy them whilst they're still here

Stayed here, on a national holiday trip to Liverpool. Hotel looked clean and modern! Shame about the rooms, very basic, in need of refurb. Rooms were dirty, toilet leaking, wallpaper peeling off, carpet ripped and worn, shower head disgusting, bath panel falling off and damp on ceiling! I'm a severe asthmatic, was a nightmare staying here. Wouldn't stay here again!
