We stopped here on a walk for sandwiches and chips and a drink. Had an excellent meal, could not fault it at all. We sat outside as was a nice day but inside was very well presented and seemed to have a nice atmosphere. Can't wait to go back!

Glorious sunshine so decided to eat here again, unfortunately we were dissapointed with the food. I had a Steak and ale pie which should have been named a mushroom and ale pie with steak, firstly their is no mention in the description that it has mushrooms in it,if it had I would not have ordered it and secondly there was not much meat in the pie.
My partner ordered Chicken and chorizo salad which again was poor, the salad was green only and 90% of that was lettuce leaves.Very little chicken or chorizo sausage. Add a pint and a glass of wine and £30 was spent on a very very average lunch. Shame because we have eaten here before and food was so much better.

My son had booked the table for my birthday. He booked for 5pm as we would be taking my granddaughters aged 6 & 2 plus 5 adults .
The place was dark and busy children crawling over the floor!
Our table was not ready asked to sit and wait for 15mins.Shown to table order taken some 20 mins later.Starters came@5-55pm my son and daughter in laws had to be sent back as they were cold
This meant our mains were delayed got some 1 1/2 hours after arriving and they were a disaster presentation not good the lamb was tough.Children getting tired luckily they took books and pencils help to eleviate the wait.No one asked if everything was ok it just lacked atmosphere
When my husdanb went to pay he was asked he stated not happy with food the reply being it had chaged hands!!!!! For the money we payed it was not enjoyable and we wont be going again till its changed hands!

Sunday lunch after an excellent family party the evening before was the perfect solution to feeling slightly jaded. The Rams Head provided the answer in the best way, with easy parking in a picturesque location close to the church (check out Lewis Carol's Cheshire Cat below the window) and the canal. There were specials on available, along with the basic carvery menu, which was plumped for by the four of us, as well as a light bite menu and also a separate offer with a good selection of meals. The carvery hit the spot, with a warming leek and pea soup, warm baguettes and 'proper' butter (not in foil pats), The meats were turkey, ham and beef which were cooked well and a great selection of vegetables which suited all our pallettes. Two courses for £14.95 was reasonable for a good wholesome meal, which we all thoroughly enjoyed. Replete, we walked around the village of Grappenhall, vowing to return before too long.

We live very locally to the village and were firm fans of The Parr Arms in its day. When The Ram's Head first opened we gave it a try and were continually disappointed. Being in need of a walkable eatery we've tried the place again several times recently and have found it very much improved. The steaks are lovely and the curry night on a Tuesday at £9.95 for two is excellent value. Most of the staff are friendly and helpful plus, if you're lucky, you can sit in the cozy leather chairs afterwards to finish your wine!
