“THE WORST HOTEL ON THE PLANET!!!!”
Reviewed August 29, 2013

This is the WORST hotel I have ever had misfortune of staying at. CUSTOMER SERVICE is NEXT TO NONE!!! Rooms are filthy and when i checked in, I had some kind of alien creature in the bathroom which had obviously made its home in the sticky carpet of the so called bedroom. When i complained to manager, the IGNORAMUS just looked at me.
WOULD NEVER stay here - EVER
I would rather sleep in Warrington Rail Station's gents toilet - sleeping in the urinal would be more appealing.
I can't even begin to comment on the smell. DONT Waste your money.

Room Tip: Disgusting with disgusting people working in it.

My stay was meant to be treat by an old friend as we hadn't seen each other in a long time. We were expecting , ok, an old and even maybe basic hotel but were not expecting to find it so dated and in need of repair. I have read previous comments by the Manager, stating that it is in keeping with its age, etc, but I have to disagree. Our room was very small, to say the least and we could have put up with the dated advocado bathroom suite, but we had to leave the sink taps turned on full for 5 minutes, before water came through. To my dismay during the night when cold water was required, it ran out hot!
The windows, although original, are in bad need of repair with rotted wood and peeling paint and there was a huge questionable crack in the corner of the ceiling, directly above my bed.
The soap, when opened, just crumbled, probably due to age.
The plus sides were that the pillows were very comfy and the towels soft but as for everything else, a desperate facelift is needed.
This hotel has the potential to be beautiful as it has so many original features but for the price being asked, I think money really needs to be spent on it. Friendly staff doesn't compensate for grotty surroundings. I had the very same wallpaper as in our room, in my own home around 25 years ago.

This was my fifth stay at the hotel, for two nights on each occasion. On my last stay it was for a re-union of old friends and neighbours with a Coronation Street Party theme. The private function room was ideal for us with a lovely buffet being served. The staff are always polite and pleasant and it is such good value. The hotel is being refurbished with many noticeable improvements on each of my visits. It is clean and comfortable with very good food.It is across from Warrington Bank Quay railway station and is a place I can recommend to the traveller who wants good food, bar meals and a stop-over.I will be booking again for December 2013.

I have been staying at The Patten 7 or 8 times a year for the last 14 years, initially with the owners Mike and Sandra running the hotel, and latterly sharing the day to day running with husband and wife team of Jack and Lea. The welcome has always been welcoming and friendly; the hotel has a warmth and charm that has been bringing back for the past 14 years, and the bar and restaurant fall into that charm bracket. Thoroughly recommended.

I stay at the hotel regularly and love it there, whilst the rooms may not be the most up to date it is very clean and extremely comfortable. The food is great and very good value as are the rooms and the staff are very friendly and obliging. Its location is perfect just across from Warrington Bank Quay train station

Having been a guest in The Patten Arms every week for six months and having moved on I can thoroughly recommend this hotel for value, friendliness and a genuine sense of welcome form all the staff. They are obliging and will go the extra mile to make you feel at home.

Stayed for one night with a friend, from opening our door to leaving the following morning we were so amazed by the antiquated decor and bathroom that we never stopped laughing about it(thank god)!!!.
Our bathroom had an avocado suite, and hard towels, the soap looked like carbolic.
The bedroom was so old fashioned with dark old wooden furniture and old fashioned bedding, the carpet had lines going along it, where to had sunk into the floorboards which squeaked everytime you walked on them.
We showered when we went home the following day as we felt dirty staying there...says it all really.

Regarding This Review Stating that Everything Is Old Fashioned, Yes, The Decor Is Old Fashioned, It Is Inkeeping With The Grandure Of The Building Which Is Over 160 Years Old. The Bathroom suite Is Avocado In This Room But It Is Not Dirty, Recent Reviews Through Other Websites State That The Hotel Is Spotlessly Clean. The Colour Of The Suite does Not Make A Single Iota Of Difference, Who's To say That A White Or Pink Suite Is Better Than A Green One. The Towels Are Of the Highest Quality And Laundered By a Leading Outsourced Company. And Yes, The Floorboards Do Creak But I Refer You Back To Our Earlier Comment, The Building Is 160 Years Old, Floorboards Creak In Most Modern Houses. Considering This Person Did Not Like Their Time At Our Establishment And "Felt Dirty Just Staying Here" They Stayed The Best Part Of 2Hours Beyond The Check-Out Time
