“Tasty treat”
Reviewed August 28, 2013

This little restaurant is a fabulous ,if understated little gem we visit every time we come to Manchester. The evening tea special if fantastic value with great choice & course options. We always pay the small additional to have the Peking duck ,which is exceptional. The staff always make us welcome & many patrons seem to be regulars as the owner welcomes them by their names. The Cantonese beef is our favourite & comes on the sizzling cast iron plate. Mixed meat special comes a close 2nd but everything is good with ample helpings. This is great venue if you are going on somewhere else as the service is good but they offer a rest in between if that's what you need ;so there's no need to feel rushed either. The décor is very traditional Chinese restaurant style but don't be put off-the food is what it is about.Give it a try!

“Honest Chinese food”
Reviewed July 27, 2013 via mobile

The Hoi Tin has been going for years and you can see why. It doesn't claim to be anything it's not. There's no fancy frills, it could do with an update in the decor department, it could probably offer some fancier sweets than fruit cocktail and icecream in 1970's desert dishes. But that's why it's so popular!

There's quite a sweet fish tank when you walk in, but it's not full of potential food but just pretty little goldfish to look at whilst you have your dinner. It almost feels like you're in a Chinese families dining room and you've been invited round for tea. It's great value, £8 for 3 courses, extra 2quid for the duck. The staff are all lovely, cheerful and friendly and the place is ALWAYS busy. The food is good. It's cheap. It's friendly and you get lemon scented hot towels at the end of your meal. What more could you ask for? Would recommend.

“Could do with a spruce up”
Reviewed July 13, 2013

Have been eating at Hoi Tin for a few years and I think it is the best Chinese in town. The menu features all the usual Chinese restaurant suspects and everything I've tried has always been delicious with good sized portions. Nice polite staff and good service even when busy which it often is. Only downside is the decor, its like it is stuck in the 1970s, could definitely do with a spruce up, then it would be almost perfect!
