“Great location, Wonderful refurbishment... But poor quality ale and expensive food.”
Reviewed August 20, 2013

Went out for a Sunday afternoon drink and meal, bearing in mind the pub is right on our door step.
I had to change my pint of ale twice, ended up drinking Guinness.... Went to book a table advised would be an hour wait !!!! Never had this problem in the past before the refurb ????
So ended up eating at The Harvester, got seated straight away... Food good and better value for money..

“Not as good since refurbishment”
Reviewed August 15, 2013

We went last weekend and were very disappointed with the pub, which used to be one of our favourites. The bar area is now very small and uninviting, which you have to sit in to wait for a table, we had to wait for 30mins, but it was Fri night. I was most shocked at the menu, which has gone very down market, just a sheet of pub grub type English dishes, rather than the risottos, fresh veggie curries and innovative meals they used to do. The food was ok, nothing special but not particularly cheap. I would compare the menu to the Seven Woods near Asda now. If they are trying to aim at families, there is no play area, unlike the Seven Woods or Chapelford Farm. I am sorry to say not really worth a visit any more.

“Superb Decor and Brilliant Food”
Reviewed August 13, 2013

I live local to The Memphis Belle and I must admit it is now a brilliant pub/restaurant. The restaurant has recently undergone a major refurb and it is now really impressive. I loved the references to the B-17 Bomber that the pub is named after, I'm glad they have brought that history back. The eating area is much better now with neater bigger tables ideal for family eating. We went recently for the lad's graduation and found it to be brilliant value. There is not many places you can get a meal as good for £5.95 and even better value if you join the Diamond Club @ £7.50 for 2 courses. Try the black pudding starter with a real ale chutney it is stunning, then the carvery. What I liked was the quality of the food and the different vegetables, all my favourites where there. All really hot, my plate was overflowing and the gorgeous gravy to come
( oh and my mint sauce and cranberry sauce, pile them on )

Don't forget try one of the 3 great Real Ales on offer and they will give you sample of them if you ask. Also for the CAMRA guys you get the discount as Members, not many places do that ( Tell them Steve told you ). Then go and sit outside and people watch with a satisfied smile on you face! We are all going again this weekend no problem. Enjoy it we did!

“Not as good as it used to be”
Reviewed August 12, 2013

Since the refurbishment, it has gone down in terms of quality and service. Food not hot, service very poor. We waited to be seated a good 5 minutes, when the pub was obviously not busy - it seemed liked the poor waitresses didn't know their role

“Not as good now”
Reviewed August 11, 2013

I use to be a regular for the carvery, Went the first time today since the refurbishment. The bar area is now very narrow and uninviting. The Carvery veg was very hard and limited to cawliflower, broccoli, carrots and leaks in some sauce. I left the veg as it had been warmed up only and served raw. Many plates were returned with veg on observation. I had turkey and gammon which was nice. Condiments were empty. Gravy very thin.
People on next table complaining about the beef full of fat. I wont be visiting here again when there are now better ones local. So glad l used the 20% voucher l had.
Management look what is returning and learn.
