Lovely atmosphere, good service, helpings bigger than one might expect so don't over-order! Sardines in particular are very good in my opinion.

As a group of four adults we returned to this restaurant after a year's absence, expecting the previous good food in pleasant surroundings. What a difference a year had made. We knew before we arrived that the restaurant had two sittings on a Saturday evening, and that as we had opted for the earlier sitting that we would only have two hours for our meal. However this should have been perfectly adequate. However from the moment we entered there was an atmosphere that felt slightly panicky about their ability to achieve the turn around in the time. We had opted for the window table that we usually have but were discouraged from sitting there " the music will be far too loud later on" said the manager before suggesting another table. Others were soon siting at the window table and the music was never too loud so had this table been double booked?

The menu has changed and is now mainly tapas with only a few main course options. We decided to go for tapas to start and then one of the two main course fish dishes on the specials (the other fish dishes required two people to eat them and up to a 45 minute wait)! One of us chose the special risotto. The waiter paused, looked at us, and then asked us to wait whilst he dashed back to the kitchen to check with the chef. He returned to triumphantly explain that this would also take 40 minutes to cook, would come after the rest of the main courses and with a two hour turnaround...... We gave in and all went for the one fish special that could be done quickly - sea bream on mash.

The tapas arrived. The octopus was delicious and a decent portion but the other starters were skimpy - just six anchovies to a portion and the few clams and broad beans were tiny and lost in a sloppy tomato sauce. On to the mains. Again not very large portions. One had very lumpy mash and the sea bream in another portion was full of bones. Our complaints to the manager and waiter were met with a shrug and " well it happens". The manager offered to hit the chef. Great humour? As experienced cooks, we tried to point out that neither lumpy mash or lots of bones in fish are necessary - with care it's easy to avoid both.

Soon after four dessert wines were slapped down on the table with no expectations as to what these were for. Then the staff seemed to give up on us. Nine o'clock approached and we had to ask for the dessert menu. When we got it we decided that there was nothing that appealed. By this time it was nine and the next sitting was beginning to arrive. We were asked what desserts we wanted and when we said we didn't want desserts they brought the bill. We explained that nobody had asked us if we wanted coffee, which we did want. These duly came, then the bill again, slapped down on the table by the manager who said "I have paid for your coffees"! We checked the bill, and despite his comment the coffees were still on the bill. When we told him he just blamed one of the staff and said that he would go and shout at her. That humour again?!

This could be a great place again. Things the restaurant needs to pay attention to? Firstly calm down and stop rushing around and grabbing things off the tables. We came for a relaxed evening in good company and not to feel harassed. Secondly reduce the number of covers, it is far too cramped and the tables are too small for tapas. It felt like they were being greedy by cramming people in. Offer a wider choice of food that can be comfortably delivered in the time slot available. Decide what you want to be. If it's a fast food tapas restaurant be clear that is all you want to serve. Pay attention to the preparation and presentation of the food. And lastly cut out the grim, unfunny humour.

I am sorry to have to write this review, it's my first negative one for Tripadvisor.

As soon as we walked into the restaurant we were greeted and found a table on a very busy night.

The place is immaculately clean and so Spanish that you can actually imagine you are on holiday. The manager ensures the service from his staff is second to none and they do all they can to please.

The atmosphere is great in here and the wine is fantastic! We were expecting the food to be amazing too but were a little disappointed as it was pretty average. However taking everything into account and the great atmosphere, would definitely recommend and will be going back.

I spotted El Mason De Los Hermanos on a random day out in Weybridge and just had to return to try it. From the outside you can tell it is going to be an experience to remember. When my husband suggested we go back I was nervous as we'd not made a reservation and the reviews mentioned one should.. but it was a Wednesday night so we thought we'd just give it a try. We were greeted by the owner as though we were friends he was happy to see again. The place was jam-packed but he very happily found a spot for us. The food was really very good. All of the tapas was fresh and hot and we loved everything we ordered. I can't wait for family to come and visit so I can take them there to try the yummy Spanish food! (PS you do not have to order tapas they also have a full menu off which you can order.) --And I must mention that all the serving staff were fun and kind and yet professional and efficient.
