Description: Set in the South Staffordshire countryside on a working farm just one mile from the village of Pattingham, The Cowshed has been converted into a fantastic contemporary restaurant. Originally the Clive Farm Dairy, the dining room now boasts a stunning interior featuring rustic oak beams and a mezzanine balcony area. The Cowshed's classic modern British menu, under instruction from Head Chef Joe Whitehouse, features favourites such as the pan-seared scallops with pancetta and sherry jus served with ciabatta toast; pan-roasted duck breast served with a zesty potato cake finished with a kumquat and grenadine jus; and the restaurant's signature Cowshed game pie stuffed with quail eggs and served with a sharp home made chutney.

Great menu, great food, great service couldn't ask for much more. This is what all restaurants should be like.

My parents were kind enough to look after my son for the night, so my partner & I suddenly found ourselves free, on a Friday night, to spend some quality time together. We decided on a meal out & looked at several options. I've always wanted to try the Cowshed but to be honest, a few of the reviews on here put me off a little.
We eventually decided to 'gamble' on visiting...and we did not regret it one bit.
We booked our table early (at 18:30) and was warmly welcomed by the staff. We were served drinks straight away and given menus.
The service we received was perfect. The setting was really nice, relaxed & chilled. Bizarrely, somehow, the Caroline Shotton paintings of Cows on the walls made this place quite romantic for couples too .
The food was good, proper English food. Very generous portions, locally sourced & prepared very well. I even had to force a desert down...even though I had no room left. Lemon posset with lavender shortbread...worth the struggle.
The chunky chips were very chunky, one portion is MORE than enough for two people & there is an extensive wine list too.

It would be a nice touch if they stocked local ales as there are plenty of micro breweries around the area, but that's not really a huge issue.

We never experienced a problem with service, maybe that was because they weren't too busy when we visited, all I can say is that we had a really enjoyable experience. The food isn't the cheapest, nor is it overly expensive.

If anyone is considering The Cowshed, then please... Take the gamble like we did.

We will be returning.

This restaurant is seriously worth going out of your way to visit. The service was friendly and personal and the food was truly good. Melt-in-your-mouth beef in ale pie, unbelievably crisp chunky chips, deliciously moist and soft in the middle, with the skins on. Wow. Partner had fabulous salmon. Veg cooked to perfection. Lovely lovely desserts. Good wine list and some decent bottled beers. I need to go there again - NOW!

Booked a table for 4 for lunch. Very friendly welcome, good choices on the lunch menu at very reasonable prices. Went for the 2 course but did have a dish of tasty olives with a pint of Old Speckled Hen and a bottle of Prosecco. The sausage and mash, and the beef pie were both very well presented, loads of veg on the side, and good portions with lots of flavour.
We chose the cheesecake and the pineapple for desserts, again both full of flavour and well presented.
The service and food were excellent throughout.
The venue is a bit different from the run of the mill pub, and we loved it.
Will be returning when we get the opportunity.
