What can you say about what is arguably the oldest and most architecturally pleasing building in Wolverhampton city centre?!
Very pleasant place to visit whether it be for an occasion, to go to the Visitor Centre (small but interesting) or for some quiet time for reflection. Staff and helpers all very pleasant and there is a lot to see inside and out - the gardens are kept beautifully. Well worth a visit.

“WONDERFUL”
Reviewed October 8, 2013 via mobile

From the first time I entered this beautiful Church 30 years ago I was bowled over by its atmosphere and beauty. Its carved ceilings, ornate organ pipes and awe inspiring stained glass contribute to the beauty and wonder. The chancel is particularly special when the sun streams through the altar windows.
The history is fascinating too.
The church has an exceptional choir who perform wonderful choral evensong in term time on Sundays 6.30pm and Wednesdays 5.15pm - definitely worth listening to.
Whether for the architecture, the tradition and heritage, the spiritually or the music this special church is worthy of a little of anyone's time. Free entry. Open weekday mornings. Has an interesting little bookshop and just round the corner in St Peter's House, volunteers run a café. Clean, friendly, inexpensive, unassuming and plenty of seating.
The church and gardens are in the centre of town, next to the Art Gallery and right by a bus stop (also close to railway station, theatre and university) so perfectly situated for a day out.

“Puts many cathedrals to shame”
Reviewed September 15, 2013

Saint Peters Church in central Wolverhampton stands on the highest point of the city which has been a Place of Christian Worship for over 1000 years. It is a very beautiful church which holds a full quota of services. Worth visiting either as a worshipper or just to look at.

“Peaceful and uplifting heart of the city”
Reviewed August 12, 2013

A peaceful and uplifting church, full of history. Look out for the Jesse window, the Lane tomb and the lion on the pulpit steps.

The guides are knowledgable and helpful; small but interesting bookshop.

The gardens are beautiful with interesting artefacts: the Anglo-Saxon pillar, the bargain stone and the Horseman fountain, to name but three.
