I really cannot understand why this place has got bad reviews. I have been going here for quite a while, find the staff very helpful and the food delicious. Highly recommended although booking on a Saturday is a must.

After a lovely afternoon "garden centring" we stopped off here for some Sunday lunch.

The pub was fairly quiet indoors as many diners were outside soaking up the lovely weather. After seating and looking at menus our orders were placed. All decided to order a Sunday roast of 2 herb crusted loin of pork and 1 roast turkey all with roasts pots and honey glazed veg.

It was delivered very quick to the table and portion size was plentiful...just like those eateries that offer a carvery with all the trimmings. It was hot and very tasty.

Once main was complete we decided dessert. There was a choice of traditional desserts such as chocolate brownie but then others with a twist such as "Pimms Eton Mess" and refreshingly these were made fresh so having a strawberry allergy I was able to ask for these to be removed yet still enjoy a dessert safely.

Staff were very friendly and helpful despite being busy. Very enjoyable meal.

Although this pub looks very appealing from the road and tries hard to present itself as a gourmet eatery, these impessions are very wide of the mark.

On entering the bar we were greated by a young waitress ang given menus. We found a table ourselves and ordered food from the bar. The calamari starter appeared very quickly, freshly cooked, and was nicely presented with an adequate salad. What a shame that there was no dressing or sauce of any description, just a half of a lime.

Our main course of grilled gammon saw things go rapidly downhill. Firstly, portion size - you won't get fat here! Though the gammon itself was nicely cooked and tasty, the rest left a lot to be desired. The chips, like cheap, frozen chips, were dry and covered with an amount of black pepper as to make them almost inedible. A small portion of frozen peas and a fried egg which had been overcooked in over-hot oil to yeild a very solid yolk and very crispy base rounded off the meal, there was no garnish. Having asked the waitress for vinegar, mustard and ketchup she returned promptly with a tray of condiments. Strangely, she would not leave this at the table and we had to serve ourselves whilst she held onto it. There was barely any ketchup in the bowl and she told me that I might be able to scrape enough for a spoonful from it, no offer to refill it though!

No one came to check if everything was okay with the meal and even when paying the bill, no one checked if we were happy with our meal. The waitresses all seem to be very young and all of the ones we met were very polite and smiled a lot. There was no conversation from them whatsoever and the whole thing seemed rather impersonal.

The quality of the main was enough to stop me ordering a pudding so I can't really comment on this aspect of their menu.

Also, the toilets, though not terrible, do need a good, thorough cleaning.

I have now eaten here a few times, as it is convenient to meet family. Loads of parking. The food menu is quite extensive and, I thought, good value for money. The service was good and quick. I would certainly visit again as convenient and good value.
