“Great!!!!”

Wightwick Manor and Gardens
Certificate of Excellence

A great pre Christmas Day out. The house was wonderfully draped with decorations and the staff where so helpful. The coffee shop was equally as good as all national trust coffee shops are.

We visited Wightwick manor in January as we are members of the national trust and were staying in the area. Wightwick manor is a fantastic house to look around. The guides/volunteers were very knowledgeable about the house and items within the house and kept what they had to talk about brief but interesting. The house surprised me with its size, there were more rooms to look around than I had expected from the outside. The rooms are stunning and well kept. The only downside with our visit was that the upstairs was not open due to refurbishments/restoration. We didn't look around the gardens due to the weather being bad/it being the middle of winter, however we would definitely return to see these and the rest of the house.

Brilliant place to visit, love the house and gardens. Can visit either areas or both depending on what time you have.

Wightwick Manor is an often overlooked local gem. The house is a super example of mock Tudor constructed in mid Victorian era! Furnishings, decor and art a must for pre-Raphaelite and Wm Morrison Arts & Crafts fans. The tea room & shop often also go un-noticed but are located in the original manor house - a genuine 15C building. Gardens are great and kid friendly - well my grand-kids think so anyway! Two local pubs very close if you want something more substantial than the on-site cafe can offer - the Mermaid on the main Bridgnorth road almost adjacent to to Wightwick Manor entrance - chain pub but good service and atmosphere and food reasonable in price & quality; the Fieldhouse more of a local & cosy is just above Wightwick Manor - a short walk but on a very steep hill! Easy bus and train service accessible from Wolverhampton for non-motorists - you could even get there by canal!!
