“great national trust”
Reviewed April 9, 2013

lovely gardens, and house, but as it is local we go there quite often. always got lots for kids. our 5 year ol loved the orienteering, and the easter trail. only thing negative to say was there was no egg and spoon races the day we went over easter, and it was advertised on the nt website.

“Well kept grounds and interesting house”
Reviewed March 31, 2013

Went on Good Friday with some snow still on the ground. Grounds and vegetable garden exceptionally well kept. Found the tips on pruning roses and other plants useful. The Manor House was very interesting - the home of the Manders. Well kept with plenty to see. Good but small restaurant. The manor house is not less-able friendly but the grounds are. The carrot and corriander soup was a bit tasteless but there is a good choice of sandwiches and home made cakes. There were plenty of kids enjoying the Easter egg hunt around the grounds too!

“Winter Wonderland!”

due to the snowy conditions we were not able to venture into the gardens, but did thorougly enjoy the Manor. Plenty to look at with people on hand to explain anything you wish to know about. The National Trust does not disappoint

“Pre-Raph Heaven!”
Reviewed March 24, 2013

Wightwick manor is a beautiful house in very lovely gardens, just 3 miles out of Wolverhampton. It has a fascinating history and is certainly well worth a visit. The guides are very knowledgeable and make the tour of the house very interesting. There are some stunning displays of Pre-Raphaelite paintings, which apparently made Andrew Lloyd Webber weep when he visited the property a little while ago for TV documentary!! There is original William Morris wall paper on the walls which is beautiful and many interesting antiques on display....including the rather 'blingy' Venetian mirror in the gallery! There is also a full-sized billiard table if you fancy a game!

A new tea-room has been built in the stable area, which was a sensible decision due to the amount of visitors they get, but unfortunately it doesn't have the cosy feel as the one it replaced, which was very sweet and intimate.....the new tearoom feels more like a busy, noisy canteen which spoils the ambience somewhat. However, the food and cakes are still top-notch and you can now get a table, so it's not all bad!!! ;-)

All in all, a very enjoyable afternoon - am looking forward to returning again in warmer weather to enjoy the beautifully tended gardens.
