Fantastic old-fashioned local pub, friendly atmosphere complete with Bathams Bitter and cheap pub grub, and a roaring fire. Great on a cold winter's evening and highly recommended to anyone with a spare half-hour at Wolverhampton. Very handy for station.

Well what a lovely old pub, Excellent selection of ales, Plus excellent pub grub. Homemade , They also do grey peas and bacon , good old english dish... The Bar staff are excellent, knowlegable were the beer & ales are concerned. Jane i thankyou, I shall return soon. One other person i should mention is one of the local gentleman , who is in there everyday Dave. He has is own corner, A good old eccentric gent.. Excellent plus lots of railway memorabilia...

Just had my 50th birthday party at the Great Western. I reserved the rear room which is a conservatory. We had the £7pp buffet whch was absolutely fantastic. Lots of people commented how good to food was. I was slightly disppointed to find that the Bathams had run out when I got there. However it gave me an excuse to try the Holden's beers which were lovely.
I do go in the pub whevener I go drinking in Wolverhampton but it was the first time I had experienced their food. The staff were helpful and friendly also.

Been twice last week, and it truly is a fantastic pub serving great food. First time I had a pint of bathams and a pork pie, classic pub experience and the pork pie was fantastic . Second time took some friends as I enjoyed it first time and had fish n chips absolutely great. You get what your given on a small table no heirs or graces just great food in great atmosphere, and the ladies on the bar are just perfect. You almost wish the owners of that huge brewery down the road who keep opening these 2 for 1 pubs and carvery pubs get out of their white towers go up the road and see what a proper pub should be.
But what do we now. Thanks for a great pub

The Great Western is a superb pub with good food and great ales. The local (Batham and Holdens) are good and it was one of the few places in the Black Country where you can still get the local grey paes and becon (sic).
