I stayed in the hotel for one night. I requested a non smoking room but was allocated a smoking room on arrival. The room was disgusting it smelled really strongly of cigarettes. I requested another room but was told the hotel was full. I felt like I was sleeping in an ashtray it was appalling. I have since complained and asked for a refund which has been refused as "I actually stayed in the room" I would never ever stay in this hotel again even if it was free....

Decided to pop in for a bar meal before seeing a show at the Grand Theatre - what a rip off! Bar was in need of updating and it seemed like we were sharing it with a few of the local tramps. Ordered the fish and chips at £5.25 each from the limited menu, and when it finally came I think they had battered a stickleback from the cut (canal to the non brummies!) A child would still be hungry and the chips looked like they had been fried twice after going cold. As we were hungry and no time to go anywhere else, we ate the meal (yes it was edible) and left as quickly as we could. The one star is for the little batman who was pleasant and efficient.

The other reviews of this hotel tell the basic story but having booked through Bookings.com and paid just £25 for a perfectly adequate room, I'm happy and would stay there again. The room was warm, quiet, roomy with all basic facilities which is all I required. I could have stayed at the Travelodge but I would have been out of the centre and would have paid significantly more

Was supposed to stay here three nights but only stayed two and actually moved hotel! Rooms are ok but desperately need refurbishing. Bar and restaurant are awful. Someone was able to get in my hotel room with a key card while I was in so not a safe place to leave your stuff when you're out or sleeping! This is a disgrace! Staff is doing its best but this doesn't compensate for the bad experience overall.

Stayed two nights here and couldn't wait to leave the place, it was dirty, badly maintained, the breakfast looked like it had been sat out for hours, and had to put up with noisey cleaners from 7am, would have prefered to sleep at the train station. The only positive about this place is the price.

Stayed here as we were attending event at civic , we really just wanted bed for night - which this hotel just manages to provide !! Check in was ok - though if you want to pay by anything other than cash it will cost you £2 more - so hit cash point before you check in , room was ok size and bedding was clean, but ask for room that does not face street - noise when clubs kick out at 3am was loud !!!!!! We did not eat in restaurant but there was one onsite - bar was basic but to drinks for less than a fiver was a bargain unheard off in hotel bar. Breakfast was ok, staff were friendly & selection was good - but don't have the coffee it was awful !!! - overall ok stay but would not pay anymore than I did !
