“Tricky to find but good for work stay”
Reviewed February 18, 2013

Pleasant hotel, they charge £3 for parking though. Room was very nice but some stains on carpet detracted from it along with slight odour from sink, presumably as not used recently. Didn't eat there but room service menu looked nice. Don't want to be picky, it was a good room and very pleasant to stay in for work, not pleasure though . I got a quiet room as requested when booking which was good.

Handy central location. Welcome reception, good food and very pleasant bar staff. Stayed in an Executive Room, Nesspresso coffee machine and Bose dock nice extras. Rooms large but room temperature for me was too hot and unable to alter.

I have stayed at this hotel a few times recently

Welcome is always good, the rooms are a good 3* standard

Last time I stayed I had a bar meal which was to a good standard and the service was excellent

I haven't yet had breakfast there as I do think that just under £14 is very expensive for a hotel breakfast outside London

Also they charge £3 per night for Car Parking which is cheeky - it should really be included in the room rate

I would happily stay there again

Good hotel. Booked myself into another Wolverhampton hotel first but chose to flee that hellhole after two nights. This hotel was a safe refuge. Nice bar area and restaurant! Rooms are good and bathroom was excellent! Wifi / Internet has to be paid for but that seems to be the norm nowadays. Very close to the train station which is convenient. The direct environment seems to be an area of primarily business so not that interesting. However, on the plus side, nice and quiet at night! Wolverhampton city centre is only a 5 minute walk! Most definitely my hotel if choice next time I'm coming over.

We wanted a reasonable hotel to stay in before a wedding, we got a great value room which was clean, modern, spacious, with all mod cons! In fact more mod cons than I would have thought. I pod connector, good tv, a hair dryer worth using and a mini bar!
We checked in with a very helpful and smiley receptionist, who recommended a local restaurant and have good directions.
We had an issue with the safe in our room not reipening. They got someone out thy evening to rectify it and brought us a complementary drink each. Really impressed at the efforts they went to put it right.
Overall a great stay and I will be using Novotels in the future if this is the level of service and room quality you get the price is unbeatable.

Reviewed February 6, 2013

The problem with staying in Wolverhampton is that there isn't much of a choice and, in the past I've chosen this hotel because it is central, has its own car park (which is important for me) and, if you need to stay in situ due to time or other constraints at least has its own restaurant and bar.

I hadn't stayed for almost a year and my impressions of it this time were that it, in terms of its general fabric, had developed a need for attention. One of the two lifts was out of order; carpets were a bit frayed; the corridors were slightly malodorous; and, in my room, the loo was hard to Flush. From memory - from my stay a few months earlier - none of these sorts of things were noticeable as problematic. I was also quite surprised to find that a breakfast was £13.95! (Surprised, especially because the buffet couldn't be described as Cordon Bleu).

So, a mixed bag indeed. It's safe; you're safe, your car seems safe; you can get food (but, for what you get it's overpriced in my view); and overall it certainly does a job. It may well be that until Wolverhampton as a whole raises the bar generally with its hotels then this will be the one to use, depending on your needs. But if this hotel's fabric continues to be neglected, then it will only find itself as another contender in the race towards the bottom and not distinguish itself from the others sufficiently to make itself the best of a mediocre bunch.

Room Tip: Not overlooking car park - if the noise of departing/arriving cars is likely to trouble you.
