“Excellent trip to the past”

Good place to visit. Sensibly priced cafe and if it is a "special day" good things to see. Better places in Worthing, but handy for me.

“A Working Windmill in ENgland”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 28, 2013

There are very few working windmills in ENgland and this is one of them. If you dont have a car it is quite hard to go to this place since it is located up a hill with narrow roads that can only accomodate 1 car on the way up. If you encounter another car coming up you have to give way by parking along the tall hedges that line the way up to the windmill.

When we went there the windmill was closed. It is open only every other Sundays of each month. Since the windmill is located in a housing area with narrow roads, parking is very limited.

“Beautifully restored working post mill”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 25, 2013

High Salvington Mill has been lovingly restored by volunteers From a falling-down wreck in the 1970s to a fully restored working windmill. It mills stone-ground flour that is for sale on the premises on Mill open days. These are the first and third Sundays in April to September inclusive. The mill also opens on certain other special days, such as the Village Fete, a Craft Fair and the like. Guided tours of the mill are available and included in the very low entrance fee of £1 (that's what it was in 2012!). Tea and home

“Passionate volunteers keep it fun”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 22, 2013

Been a few times on their open days and fetes. Always impressed by the enthusiasm of the people helping. It's a great place to visit, able to get inside the mill, and learn lots about its history. Recommend visiting on one of their open days or fetes, great tea and cake. Fetes very reasonable, be prepared to buys lots of produce an bric a bac :-)

“A bit of history in an unusual location”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 4, 2013

My visit to Salvington Windmill was very enjoyable, with a knowledgeable and friendly guide who gave great detail about this 16th century post mill. There are other restored items in the grounds. Check their website for functions and events.
