stayed 8th jan for 1 night, stayed in Bradbury star superior room £95 per night booked direct with hotel. room quite large and nicely decorated and furnished. large screen tv with freeview box. which couldn't get any channels on and poor reception hence not much use! ran water for shower for 10 mins and still only aired! nice big thick white towels which needed after cold shower! no mirror in bathroom. on the plus side on checking in nice helpful young lady on reception. beds very comfortable. breakfast very good. good choice and plenty of it. cooked breakfasts done fresh to order and waiter very attentive and pleasant. cleaners all said good morning. one other small thing I noticed when passing the cupboard containing the cleaning materials was that the biscuits to replenish the tea trays in rooms are also stored next to them! stayed here due to family funeral. when in area again will try elsewhere

Room Tip: just pay for the standard room rather than paying extra for the superior as other family members had...

Thank you for taking the time and trouble to comment on your recent visit to the hotel and regret the adverse comments you made. Bradbury Star is a bedroom recently refurbished however due to the Christmas break the delivery of new curtains, bedhead and chairs has been delayed.
A new bathroom mirror was put in as part of this refurbishment but unfortunately had just been smashed by a previous guest and we are in the process of getting a new one.
Upon checking the television it was found to be working with a clear picture so it may well be that the instruction s for working the television were not clear enough due to the fact that it has a Box.
We will investigate your comments about the water as this is not a comment we have had previously.
The biscuits you refer to were not in danger of cross contamination as both they and the chemicals are all sealed however they will be put on separate shelves for added protection.
On a happier note i am glad that overall you enjoyed your stay with us .

Stayed for one night, good welcome from staff. Stayed in the Bruni room, great modern, good quality bedroom furniture, but lighting poor and very dim, bedside light and TV did not work but were fixed quickly when requested. Shower was over the bath and difficult to use, toiletries inadequate
However both evening meal and breakfast were very good. Dinner served in bar/ restaurant, food good but a wedding party was in and they took over the bar area and would have been difficult if more people were eating
Would stay again if in the area

It's an ancient building, and has plenty of character as a result. The rooms don't have numbers. They are all named after race horses. Reception staff are friendly and efficient.

Breakfast was quite good, except for the muffins in my Eggs Benedict. They were inedible. I complained, but only received an apology, not a replacement or a refund.

Very nice place to stay, with a small country house feel. Good food, both for breakfast and dinner. Friendly helpful staff. No complaints but two personal observations, 1) bed was a little too firm for our liking and 2) would have preferred a shower rather than bath, but neither detracted greatly from our stay. Stayed in a superior double room, very good value for money, would stay again. The 3 out of 5 for sleep quality is based on mattress firmness only, if the mattress had been softer it would have been 5 out of 5, the hotel was nice and quiet at night. Would have given the hotel 4.5 out of 5 overall if it was possible.

Comfortable 'olde worlde' coaching Inn...privately owned and run...but the food is the wonder...absolutely first class. and not too expensive...The Snooty Fox Bar and grill...I've never had better hand cut, twice fried chips...amazing experience, and everything cooked fresh from local ingredients to die for...and breakfast the same quality and attention to detail...better than any posh Marco Pierre White or Jamie Oliver places we frequent in Brum...by FAR!! And friendly staff, as you would expect....serendipitous beauty find...

The Findon Manor brings together quality and atmosphere in one. This elegant hotel nestles in the South Downs in the village of Findon and encompasses finesse and style. The restaurant offered fine food, of good quantity and served well. The room was well appointed, but the only aspect against the room was that the toilet cistern did not fill quickly and would literally just drip fill for about an hour, which was annoying when trying to get to sleep. Fix the cistern and you will be 100%. Other than that it was a great stay.

3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 23, 2013

We stayed at this hotel at the beginning of November. We booked a double and a twin room. The main reason for booking the Findon Manor Hotel was that we had a funeral to attend the following day and the funeral procession would be leaving from the hotel.
We were given the room Bradbury Star and our adult sons the room Clair Soleil. The room rate including breakfast was £89.50. The rooms were so different! Bradbury Star was a large, comfortable airy room with two single beds joined together to make one huge double bed. Clair Soleil, on the other hand was a cramped room with twin beds very close together. When the ironing board was in use, there was no way that anyone could get by! We didn't realise the rooms varied so much until the following morning, otherwise we would have requested an alternative room to the Clair Soleil.
We had a drink in the Snooty Fox bar when we arrived, and decided to eat there. The food was very good, and the waiter/barman was very efficient and friendly.
Breakfast was 'hearty'! There was a good choice of cereal, pastries, fruit and yoghurt. The cooked breakfast consisted of locally produced bacon, sausages eggs etc. The portions were huge! I suppose it would depend on your appetite as to whether you would class this a good or bad thing, but we had a fair amount of food that was wasted.
We had a morning reception of tea/coffee and Danish pastries for family members before the funeral. Following the funeral, the funeral party returned to the Findon Manor for the funeral buffet. The buffet, considering what it cost was very disappointing. Other family members had arranged this, so we did not feel that it was appropriate to comment at the time.

Dear Guest,
Thank you for taking the time and trouble to make comments about your recent stay with us and naturally regret that you raised some negative remarks. I take on board the issue of the ironing board but as it is sited in the wardrobe so it is out of sight i regret that it is impossible to place it else where as it is an ironing station.
Clair Sol is 10 ft by 17 ft without taking into consideration the space for the bathroom and regret that you found this insufficient and would say that the beds were capable of being moved further apart if required or made into a 6ft King double.
I am surprised about your thoughts on our Funeral food and this is the first adverse comment we have had in eighteen months. Perhaps if you could elaborate further with dates then we can look into this in greater detail. Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience and am pleased that overall you enjoyed your stay. Many thanks
