Have just spent an enjoyable weekend at this hotel. We stayed in the Townhouse annex behind the hotel. Good sized room and clean, very comfortable beds,
Staff were very helpful and freindly and nothing was too much trouble.
Breakfast was okay but quite expensive as didnt want to have the full english fry up, but it looked acceptable on other peoples plates.
Coffee and tea and milk were replenished if we ran out by reception.
The location is excellent right oppisite the sea, worthing town centre a short walk away.
Having stayed in brighton, worthing is a lot more peaceful.
I am amazed how many negative reviews are on trip advisor about this hotel.
We feel what we paid for our stay was totally acceptable and were very happy.
But we stayed in the kingsway hotel townhouse annex which was very quiet and not having a sea view didnt bother us at all.so maybe things are different in the main hotel.
The lady on reception told us that they do get complaints about the windows, but the hotel is a listed building and they have to deal with regulations set by the local council.

Had a lovely time at the kingsway. Hotel was clean and our room had lovely sea views. The staff were friendly and helpful but seemed to be short staffed with the barman also acting as a waiter. Breakfast was good but the evening meal was average. Overall good hotel and good value, hotel would benefit from new windows as our windows had been taped up before and still seemed loose. We will use again and do recommend to others.

Room Tip: Superior for sea view

My partner and I originally booked for 2 nights. On arrival we decided the room was so good - spacious, with balcony and brilliant sea view - that we extended by another night. We actually ended up staying 5 nights in all!

The bed was huge and extremely comfortable. Our dog, Hugo, was made most welcome. There were other dogs staying during our visit but all were very well behaved.

Courtyard at the front of the hotel where you can have coffee, cold drinks and eat your meal - be it breakfast or dinner.

The staff were lovely and very helpful.

Definitely will be going back.

Room Tip: Room 12 with balcony is excellent. On the first floor so not many stairs although there is a working...

Accompanying my 95 year old wheelchair bound mother on a visit to Worthing we stayed overnight at Kingsway Hotel and were very pleased with all aspects of the hotel. The staff could not have been more friendly, the room was delightful and the breakfast excellent. I have no hesitation in strongly recommending Kingsway Hotel.

As part of a large group and having read TA, we braced ourselves for the delights of the Kingsway; our usual abode The Chatsworth was fully booked.

The reception staff were friendly although the reception area had a tired look about it including a large picture of what I took to be the owner. I was upgraded to a Superior Double which was comfortable if not huge nor particulary "superior". The windows were filthy and the curtain lining looked as if it had been attacked by a pack of kittens.

The bathroom was a hotchpotch of tiles and plumbing and obviously a late addition to the room, the wiring for the heated towel rail was very suspect.

The bed was soft but I slept well considering the alarm call from the gulls at 4.15AM; not the hotel's fault I might add.

Breakfast was served in the restaurant however the portions were not large and I suspect that the eggs, bacon and sausages were reheated in a microwave.

On the positive side we were all able to park our cars in the hotel's parking area without running the gauntlet of the Worthing parking attendants.

Will we return? I suspect not.

We booked two rooms here one double and a single for three people. The fire alarm in the double room was taped over. The tiles were broken in the bathrooms there were suction bath mats that were yellow with age, over loaded plugs, the heater in the bathroom in the single room was bandaged up with electrical tape. The shower head was full of lime-scale the tiles round the toilet were broken and falling off the wall. the shower head in the double room had a case of brewers droop I had to tie it up so I could have a shower. Not enough tea/coffee milk. They couldn't even be bothered to take the wall paper off before redecorating the room. broken ceiling lights, no curtains in the single room only a blind that was broken and the room looks straight into another room. Window that are so old they are lucky to still be in the windows I could go on but I think that's enough. This hotel is dangerous to your health.

Attracted by the website offering a friendly hotel on the seafront, we booked a “superior” double with sea view for a 3-night break.

On arrival we were asked to pay up front for the entire stay – not something we’ve experienced at other hotels but perhaps they’ve had a high percentage of dissatisfied guests refusing to pay.

The room was clean and functionally furnished but very hot and only one window would open; the others were stuck down with sellotape! A large TV offered Freeview, though poor reception meant only a few channels were available. The scruffy information book contained little of use - the promised restaurant menu was missing and there was nothing about places to visit.

The shower fed from the bath taps but we couldn’t get it to work. A friendly maintenance man arrived quickly to fix it with brute force. There were no anti-slip mats in and around the bath so we had to improvise with towels. I had to ask the chambermaid, manager and finally the receptionist before anyone would replenish the loo rolls!

The lounge on the ground floor was furnished with business furniture and a large-screen TV but didn’t look particularly comfortable or inviting for non-business guests.

The restaurant looked like it had been recently refurbished with a stylish contemporary look so our expectations were high. The menu however was very basic (everything with chips). Breakfast was an extortionate £7.75 for cereals/toast/prunes or £9.95 for something cooked. I’ve never before seen white scrambled eggs, the tinned mushrooms were swimming in water and butter, and I swear the coffee on our final morning was diluted “Camp Coffee”.

The staff were all polite but clearly not interested in engaging in conversation and it’s difficult to see how anyone would “arrive as a guest and leave as a friend”.

Our overall impression was that of a hotel struggling to survive and spending money on refurbishment to attract business customers. The staff’s indifference suggests they are waiting for the inevitable closure, like the boarded-up Cavendish Hotel opposite.

I understand Worthing is undergoing rejuvenation and attracting people who find Brighton too expensive; if so the Kingsway will face stiff competition, especially at £123 per night. It wouldn’t take much to bring this hotel up to a reasonable standard – bring in a chef to cook fresh, seasonal food, and provide staff with some basic customer service training. They might even be allowed to remove the black tape from the third star on the AA sign outside.
