Dear sir, thank you for coming to us for your meal and we are glad you are satisfied with our service. Though we did not recently have a hygienic issue, we have always been highly rated from the local authority (Foods Standard Agency), our most recently rated score is 5 stars. Thank you once again and we look forward to seeing you soon. John

“Great restaurant, great experience”
Reviewed April 28, 2014

If relatives or friends come and visit, my first port of call for entertaining is usually The Imperial China. I can always be assured that the food will be good, children will be welcomed and service attentive. They obviously put a lot of effort into the atmosphere and what, at first glance, appears to be quite a formal restaurant soon becomes a welcoming experience (the Tsingtao usually helps).

I would like to attend more but many of the dishes that I enjoy are at the upper-end of the price range and the costs of entertaining soon mount up!

“Good food, spoiled by minor disappointments”
Reviewed April 27, 2014

This is a top-notch Oriental restaurant, certainly, with a good selection of Cantonese food along with some Thai and Malaysian choices. The service is generally prompt and courteous, yet rarely accompanied by a smile.

I was with 12 other adults but the big circular table we were given was more suited to a party of 10, I'd say. We were all elbows and knees, and it was not pleasant. There wasn't even room for all the dishes (especially with several pairs and triples electing the Set Menu options).

Another bugbear is parking. There never seems to be a space on the surrounding residential streets.

I cannot fault the food, however. Everything tasted as it should, and the various meats were especially succulent and flavoursome - I tried several starters including Dim Sum (Har Gau and Siu Mai) and lots of mains: lamb, chicken, beef. Serving sweet and sour chicken in a half-pineapple is not original but still interesting, if you ask me. And there was no scrimping on the quality - my Yeung Chow included a decent sprinkling of sizeable prawns and Char Siu.

13 people, £460 including a couple of bottles of wine and 17 Tsingtao beers. We would have had a larger drinks bill but there was never anyone around when we wanted to place another order.

I've had better (but not in England).

“Worse take away ever”
Reviewed March 30, 2014 via mobile

30.03.2014 we got a takeaway, sweet and sour sauce like water, spare ribs had no sauce on them, chicken satay skewers no sauce, pancakes for duck were crisps not pancakes... £42 was expensive and we expect more from imperial and thought that was what we would get, definitely not going to get any food here ever again.... It use to be so much better.....

Dear madam, we sincerely apologise for the disappointment, shame I couldn't respond to you earlier because we didn't register for responses to trip advisors review until recently. If you gave us a call on that day then we would have been more than happy to change it for you, or we could of given you a full refund. I look forward to seeing you next time.
