I have been to Frankie & Benny's probably a couple of times a year, each year since it opened, and each experience varies! The last time was awful, so I wrote a review, however, last night, although the staff need some training (!), the food was better. We booked a table as were going to the cinema afterwards. As soon as we walked in a waiter acknowledged us as said he'd be with us as soon as he could. We then stood, inside the door, for what seemed ages, until being shown to a table. As we waited, you could not help noticing that many of the empty tables still had dirty plates, glasses etc waiting to be cleared, and you could not see the surface of the bar for the same reason. Food wise I had calzone (which last time was stone cold). This time, it was piping hot and absolutely delicious. My husband says his pizza was nice and our friend's husband enjoyed his burger and chips, although the juices of the burger made it very messy to eat! Our friend's wife ordered penne pasta with mushrooms and watercress, in a creamy sauce. She only ate about half of it. She said the pasta was very overcooked, it was bland with no taste and the creamy sauce was actually a small amount of a runny sauce. For dessert I had a 'mini' dessert of icecream with a mini pancake. The pancake was cold, rubbery and definitely out of a packet. At no stage did our waitress ask us how was the food, even when taking our plates away, our friend having left half of the pasta, did she enquire if we enjoyed our food. The waitress stretched across the table to clear the plates & glasses, right in front of me, whereas, she should have walked around the other side to take my husband's and friend's plates. I did notice that the music was quieter this time, much better, we could have a conversation without having to shout at each other.
