Overall the stay was good. Staff at reception and breakfast were very good. Food was good value.

My rather picky Improvements that could be made. (Note that the experience was a good one) The iron was past its best and the ironing board needs replacement in room 42. Breakfast on Sunday morning was a little too busy for a single member of staff to handle though they were polite and working their socks off. Our waitress on the Saturday evening was not terribly customer friendly and it would be nice to have some smiles from the housekeeping team.

Would visit again :)

Thank you for your recent review. We are pleased to hear that you had a good experience and do take your comments on board. We are in the process of looking at all of the irons & iron boards and will these will be replaced as required. With regards to the team then we will be speaking to the individuals involved and we are sorry that you did not find them friendly. On the Sunday morning in question then there were 2 team members on duty and so we will be investigating why it would have only appeared to be one. Once again we would like to thank you for your comments as without them we are unable to improve our offer. We do look forward to welcoming you back soon. Kind Regards Damian & Roger, General Manager’s.

This hotel is right in the centre of Yeovil but quiet and full of character.

Great staff, all were so helpfull.
Rooms are spotless
Food is very good value and good quality.
Josh the waiter and Caroline the receptionist were exemplary

Room Tip: go for 1st floor rooms as lower floors here creaky floorboards when above room is occupied.

We booked a two night stay at the Manor Hotel on a deal. On arriving at the Hotel our first impression was how impressive the hotel looked from the outside and the hotel did not disappoint. A very pleasant young lady checked us in and I thought at the time it was a small reception area for the size of the hotel and this proved to be a problem when we checked out. We were allocated a room in the Old Stables which is a separate annex at the rear of the hotel but although modern feels a part of the hotel. The room was spotless and very well presented. After a good nights sleep we went across to the main building for breakfast. There was plenty of choice from the buffet for cereals, fruit, cakes etc. There was also lots of options to choose from the hot cooked menu. I would recommend the scrambled eggs, they are delicious. On our second morning the kitchen had run out of brown bread and smoked salmon which I found strange for such a well oiled machine. The only other things that I would make a negative comment on would be that the hot chocolate was not replenished on the tea tray and we had no spare loo roll in the bathroom so had to go to reception to request one. Finally we had to wait over half an hour to check out as the receptionist had to deal with a query and it would have been nice if she could have called on another member of staff to help with just checking guests out. All things considered we would recommend this hotel and use ourselves again if we visit Yeovil in the future.

Thank you for taking the time to write your review and for your kind comments. We are sorry that we ran out of the brown bread and smoked salmon during your visit, we can assure you that this is a one off and we have changed the order levels to ensure that this does not happen again. We have also spoken to housekeeping regarding replenishing tea trays. With regards to your experience on check out, we have asked our reception team to ensure that queries are dealt with as quickly as possible and if it is regarding a future function then they ask for the assistance of our Meetings & Events Co-ordinators or a manager. Thank you again for your feedback and we look forward to welcoming you back to The Manor soon. Kind Regards Damian & Roger, General Manager’s.

We stayed here for one night when seeing a show at The Octagon theatre to save driving home. The staff were relaxed and friendly. The decor although a little tired was traditional and felt homely. We ate in the restaurant before the show, and the food was great, and service very good. Food arrived quickly, and was hot. We thought the wine list was good but a bit pricey, but then, the accommodation was reasonable, so fair do's. if they had charged a lot more for the room we wouldn't have stayed, so with the dinner, plus the Prosecco we enjoyed, we know they did well too! The bed was huge and really comfortable. That was a high point as most hotels skimp on pillow and mattress quality. They didn't so a big tick for that. The other one is for the staff, every one of whom were friendly and ALWAYS spoke to you. That's nice and made a difference.

Room Tip: Ignore ratings for fitness and swimming pool, as this website wouldn't let me remove them! Nice...

This hotel was friendly and very helpful. It was well situated a few miles from Street Village which is a good opportunity to shop until you drop. The food was excellent and we both felt very much at home here. The bar had big comfortable chairs where you could read or watch TV. It has a historical background with cellar running underneath the floor, thses have not been open for years. It catered for big events such as weddings and birthday parties. We enjoyed our stay here and would definitely return.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Refurbished three years ago The Manor is located in the Somerset town of Yeovil with easy access via the A303. An Ideal base if visiting Yeovilton, Sherborne. Built in 1735 by local glover and merchant banker John Daniel, the house was known as Hendford House. After he passed away the house was rented out until 1927 when it became The Manor Hotel. A manor it may not be, but it is certainly elegant enough to be one. Its classical facade and porch are of warm, mellow stone, and to its long single wing, also of stone. It has a cheerful modern bar with scrubbed floorboards and pale beechwood furniture and fittings. Today the hotel is a firm favourite with locals and travellers alike. You will be assured of a very warm welcome and great hospitality. Yeovil is the ideal spot from which to explore Hardy's Wessex. Nearby attractions include Glastonbury Abbey. ... more   less
