We booked a two night stay at the Manor Hotel on a deal. On arriving at the Hotel our first impression was how impressive the hotel looked from the outside and the hotel did not disappoint. A very pleasant young lady checked us in and I thought at the time it was a small reception area for the size of the hotel and this proved to be a problem when we checked out. We were allocated a room in the Old Stables which is a separate annex at the rear of the hotel but although modern feels a part of the hotel. The room was spotless and very well presented. After a good nights sleep we went across to the main building for breakfast. There was plenty of choice from the buffet for cereals, fruit, cakes etc. There was also lots of options to choose from the hot cooked menu. I would recommend the scrambled eggs, they are delicious. On our second morning the kitchen had run out of brown bread and smoked salmon which I found strange for such a well oiled machine. The only other things that I would make a negative comment on would be that the hot chocolate was not replenished on the tea tray and we had no spare loo roll in the bathroom so had to go to reception to request one. Finally we had to wait over half an hour to check out as the receptionist had to deal with a query and it would have been nice if she could have called on another member of staff to help with just checking guests out. All things considered we would recommend this hotel and use ourselves again if we visit Yeovil in the future.
Thank you for taking the time to write your review and for your kind comments. We are sorry that we ran out of the brown bread and smoked salmon during your visit, we can assure you that this is a one off and we have changed the order levels to ensure that this does not happen again. We have also spoken to housekeeping regarding replenishing tea trays. With regards to your experience on check out, we have asked our reception team to ensure that queries are dealt with as quickly as possible and if it is regarding a future function then they ask for the assistance of our Meetings & Events Co-ordinators or a manager. Thank you again for your feedback and we look forward to welcoming you back to The Manor soon. Kind Regards Damian & Roger, General Manager’s.
We stayed here for one night when seeing a show at The Octagon theatre to save driving home. The staff were relaxed and friendly. The decor although a little tired was traditional and felt homely. We ate in the restaurant before the show, and the food was great, and service very good. Food arrived quickly, and was hot. We thought the wine list was good but a bit pricey, but then, the accommodation was reasonable, so fair do's. if they had charged a lot more for the room we wouldn't have stayed, so with the dinner, plus the Prosecco we enjoyed, we know they did well too! The bed was huge and really comfortable. That was a high point as most hotels skimp on pillow and mattress quality. They didn't so a big tick for that. The other one is for the staff, every one of whom were friendly and ALWAYS spoke to you. That's nice and made a difference.
Thank you for your recent review. We are pleased to hear that the hotel felt homely and that your bed was comfortably. This is important to us and we will be sure to pass on your kind comments to the team. We look forward to welcoming you back the next time you are visiting the theatre. Kind Regards Damian & Roger, General Manager’s
This hotel was friendly and very helpful. It was well situated a few miles from Street Village which is a good opportunity to shop until you drop. The food was excellent and we both felt very much at home here. The bar had big comfortable chairs where you could read or watch TV. It has a historical background with cellar running underneath the floor, thses have not been open for years. It catered for big events such as weddings and birthday parties. We enjoyed our stay here and would definitely return.
Thank you for your taking the time to write your review. We are pleased to hear that you felt at home and had the opportunity to shop. We look forward to welcoming you back soon. Kind Regards Damian & Roger, General Manager's
The hotel on looking at the pictures looks good but beware as you enter a different place as you leave the ambience of the restaurant and ground floor area. On arrival the receptionist didnt advise me I had been given the room (30) which was up at least 3-4 flights of stairs which were narrow and demanding which when you are carrying a multitude of overnight bags is like climbing everest.Impressions of the room were not great either as I was in the eves and had one small window that did not open and part of the buildings roof wall outside (so much for a view) plus the windows were rotten and I dare not open them as the latch was broken. Woodchip paper very nice in the eighties with a feel to the room that it was so dated. Try plugging your mobile into the socket adjacent to the bed so at least you can set your alarm you will find three pin round sockets not very helpful. For the £75 they charged for the room this is so overpriced and I felt this room would struggle to get £40. As mentioned the dowstairs part is beautiful and buzzing with great food on offer but again the staff were very uninspiring with no please -or thank yous especially at breakfast I felt like i did not exist. If I was paying for this hotel myself I would of complained but because I just needed a bed for the night and it was clean i could not be bothered.I am a regular traveller and feel that this hotel needs a complete overhaul in the bedrooms and yes it is an old building but that is no excuse to overcharge - Premier travel inn for me next time a lesson learnt
Thank you for your recent review. We are sorry to read your comments regarding the room you stayed in. The Manor does have rooms on the 3rd floor and we do have many favourable comments about these rooms as they are the quietest in the building. We are aware that the stairs can be an issue for some guests and so do tend to allocate shorts stays, such as yours, as less luggage is usually required. The whole of the Hotel was refurbished in November 2011 although some rooms are starting to look a little tired and we have a plan in place to address this. Kind Regards Damian & Roger, General Managers.
