“small and clean”
Reviewed May 20, 2013

although the room was small(good sized bathroom) it was very clean, the city lodge is very central to the town centre and close to leisure facilities and restaurants,we liked yeovil country park very close for our early morning walk.

All in all good value for the price we paid

At first glance the room looked basic but reasonable. However we soon noticed the carpet was filthy and didnt look like it had been vacuumed for a while. I didnt like walking on it in socks never mind bare feet!
The bathroom was clean enough except the shelf where the towels were, which was stained and dirty looking.
The bed linen did look clean and fresh, as did the towels.
A little unsettling was the 'fire' door outside our room which could be opened from the outside, avoiding reception. After a very dodgy looking girl tried several doors before ours, and then asked for 'Sugar', we decided it wasnt the place for us and drove home!

Room Tip: Maybe on the first floor.

Stayed here for one night to break the journey from London to the South West. Hotel room was £38 and our room was large with three windows. In room facilities are clean and well thought out. I appreciated the provision of two small bottles of water and apples. The bathrooms come with soap and hair/shower gel, so much more than you would get in a similarly priced Travelodge.

On the plus side - room spacious , bed comfortable and pillows nice and flat which is my preference. Plenty of hot water. Location good near numerous restaurants, quiet being Monday but imagine it is noisy outside later in week. Noisy when other guests returned, doors banging and showers heard.
Staff in reception pleasant and helpful.
Negatives - bathroom had unpleasant mould on ceiling, coving and up the grout. Towels were thin and rough. No double glazing so dripping with condensation in morning. Ground floor room so didn't feel safe to open the window, room consequently airless. Would not have liked to have stayed as single female traveller, no phone to reception , out in annexe.

Last minute booking on-line on Saturday morning, just needed a place to sleep around Yeovil, £40 for a double room seemed a great price and I wasn't expecting much for that.
What a surprise, the room was bright, fresh, clean and an apple and water for each of us. The room was basic, but for £40, I thought it was exceptional value.
Would definitely use it again if I need to be down that way.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front hear traffic about 7am as it's single glazed sash windows, but not really an...

Great place super clean room, reception and hallways. Excellent location. Try the italian restaurant 2 doors down for fab food. Ask for room 301, 3 huge lovely period windows on a curve. Apples in room cute touch.

Me and my boyfriend stayed at the city lodge on New Year's Eve and have since, stayed there again. We stayed in a lovely room and even though it was at the front of the hotel, it wasn't noisy. You get lots of tea and coffee, bottles of water and a choice of biscuits. The staff always greet you with a smile, the rooms are spacious, its in a great location, the beds are comfy and it's budget friendly. Brilliant :) definately would stay again x
