“Fine for a night or two, but wouldn't stay for much longer”
Reviewed August 3, 2013

Stayed here at the beginning of August for 1 night to break up our journey back from Wales.

On arrival, we couldn't find the parking area, so we had to ask inside the pub- the directions weren't particularly clear and we managed to grab the very last space- if you don't arrive early, you can't get a space and have to park somewhere else or risk a fine from parking in the doctor's surgery car park. There is a direct entrance into the car park, but if your car is middle-sized or greater then you won't fit in as there is a bollard in the way!

The room was up-to-date and very clean, apart from a few hairs in the corner of the bathroom. The bed was comfy too and the TV worked a lot better than other hotels we have stayed in. However, Room 31 was right next to the pub garden, so when trying to relax after a long day driving, we had to listen to the swearing punters talking about women in the most absurd way- a room away from this area would have been nicer and we probably would have gotten an earlier night too.

Food was very good and good value in the restaurant- breakfast was nice and the few evening meals on offer were cheap and traditional. The poor girl working behind the bar though was working by herself, on a Friday night, trying to take food orders and serve drinks, which we thought was unfair.

Overall, an average stay- fine for a night or two, but I wouldn't stay here for any longer than that.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the pub, as we had drunk, swearing men right outside our bedroom window unt...

We booked 2 double rooms and got given a twin and a family room
Family room had an awful odour in it which never went in 3 days stay, it was clean well serviced by services, clean towels daily, supplies off tea coffee biscuits topped up, hotel staff were pleasant and friendly, breakfast was ok but there was some mouldy bread in bread bin for toast on sat morning , we got woken fri by apparently staff removing people from next room , and by fire alarm on Saturday night no explanation was given about this, we appricated being put in a family room as room was bigger but bath very tiny and car parking is difficult if you cant get into small difficult to find and manoeuvre into you have to pay a lot in roadside car parks , hotel is very close to all shops restaurants etc if your looking for a superb restaurant look for lesley waters restaurant best steaks ever and fantastic service , wine street yeovil

For £44 for 2 people sharing, it was good value. Had to check-in in the bar, and there was no record from bookings.com of my reservation. Luckily I'd printed my email.
On entering the accommodation it was clear that the radiators were on in the middle of July, luckily I'd brought a Fan with us.
The hotel is very close to the high street, and plenty of places to eat, close by.
The breakfast is good, with a full english available.

Pub with rooms, some in the old coaching inn main building, some in modern blocks at the back. Centrally located but very limited parking with space for just 10 vehicles if everyone parks considerately. There appears to be 35 rooms.

No reception on Sunday, had to collect key from bar tender in busy and very noisy bar. No food Sunday night either.

We had twin room at front overlooking street, very large window but no net curtains for privacy. Room had desktop the width of the room which was useful, but only one chair which wasn’t, room was bit noisy from both outside and inside the hotel. Shower was good, breakfast was good with self serve tea and toast and hot cooked food to order.

I thought at the price we paid, mid 80’s it was a little overpriced.

Spent a night here in November. Nice beer in bar. No food after 2000. Maybe I was unlucky. ?? Tight squeeze up alleyway to car park. Or instructions for rear car park via one way system. !!!! Room ok. Didn't get the breakfast as I left early. Pub lively as it was near Christmas office do's.

Room Tip: Ignore above. No pool or gym. Doh.

Stayed at The Globe & Crown for three nights recently. Excellent value. A warm welcome, nothing was too much trouble. Evening meals were delicious and nicely presented. Breakfast was very good too, and again the staff were lovely. Cosy clean room. Thank you for a lovely stay. John & Fiona

Room was cold. Shower was cold. Curtains did not meet when closed. There was a choice of three meals to choose from on the menu in the restaurant. We left and went to the Mexican 200yds down the road. Would have preferred to stay in the pub to eat as it was absolutely pouring with rain. That said breakfast was good. Unfortunately not good enough to entice us back. Ever..

Room Tip: Don't go.
