Brilliant restaurant, have been there a few times they are very friendly staff also very nice homemade food and scones and all worth the prices. Also excellent views and if you are a trekker a nice stop on your way. Would recommend to everyone.

“Sunday Lunch”
Reviewed October 31, 2012

We have a very nice and VERYFRESH lunch. Nothing was frozen it was cooked while you waited. Cannot understand previous comments, I would certainly recommend this restaurant and have done so.

As for waiting I think it makes a change in not being rushed and allowed to eat at your leisure, yes it may have been a long time for a large group booking, but if you wanted an express lunch you shoud have gone to McDonalds then!!!!

“Very disappointed”
Reviewed October 10, 2012

I visited here today with a large group of people. The food was disappointing and the service was poor. We paid £15.50 each for a 3 course meal - which was subsidised by our club - so not sure what the true cost was. There was long gaps in between courses - and after being seated for over 3 and a half hours in uncomfortable chairs with no sign of the tea/coffee- I decided it was quicker to come home and have one in the comfort of my own home. A handy place to call in if you're out walking on the Downs for a hot drink - but couldn't recommend for a meal. The best thing about this cafe/restaurant is the amazing views.

“Don't go there”
Reviewed September 4, 2012

Possibly the worse restaurant I have ever been to. OK - it is really just a cafe - but they do charge restaurant prices. I ordered from the main Sunday Menu and chose the plaice. I was happy to wait a while - not wanting a starter. Half an hour later - still no sign of any food but just as I was about to complain - or leave - it arrived. A sad piece of fish with a while sauce - large portion of vegetables - mostly previously frozen. The fish was just about edible and the new postatoes were actually rather good. The cost was £10 for the food. For those treking along the North Downs Way - this may seem a welcome oasis - but it is not! It would be far better of the owners lost their illusion of grandeaur and cooked simple cafe food quickly and cheaply for weary travellers. Ten minutes down the road in Wye - you'll find the Wife of Bath restaurant - yes - more expensive - but worth the extra but they are not open for lunch every day.
