“Mid week treat excellent”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 2, 2013

We had a girls night out here , 10 of us and did book a table . Most of us chose the fixed price menu at £12.50 for 2 courses and £15.50 for 3 courses. Nice sized portions hot and not one person complained. The mushroom risotto starter was lovely hot and well cooked . A nice range of cocktails to end the evening . Didn't try the puds but those that did complimented the manager. Good service at a good price.

“Food for the Gods”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 23, 2013 via mobile

The food was excellent and well presented. We had a fillet steak and the pan seared salmon, we could not fault either dish. The service was good and the waitress was attentive. We finished with a cheese board and sticky toffee pudding and a glass of port. All in all we would recommend The Church House and dine here again. Thank you to lovely Sarah and Matthew from Australia for a good night and we hope to see you again soon. A heavenly surprise in Banbury try it!

“Sunday lunch”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 17, 2013

Looking at the cocktails list and the disco lights on the ceiling, probably it works more like a Saturday night place rather than a Sunday roast retreat. However the atmosphere and the staff still give it the friendly feel like any other English pub. The food was very tasty and well presented in quite big portions.

“Valentine's Day meal at The Church House”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 15, 2013

My partner and I as usual left Valentine's Day plans til the last minute and happened to stumble across this delightful restaurant/bar in Banbury. Although it was busy being Valentine's night, the staff were extremely welcoming and the manager provided a table for two in minutes! We were expecting to have to wait. There was a Valentine's Day 2 and 3 course set menu, which was reasonably priced, 2 courses for £19.95 and 3 courses for £24.95 including a glass of champagne and flowers to take home - lovely. My starter was the smoked duck breast, roasted fig and walnut salad finished with infused nut oil, absolutely divine, the flavour of the duck was awesome. For the main course I opted for roasted halibut, saffron fragranced potatoes served with brown shrimp butter and purple sprouting broccoli and then dessert a caramelised lemon tart with citrus sorbet. Absolutely heavenly food, I will most definitely be returning to try the a la carte menu which is availble on a day to day basis according to our waiter. Also this establishment boast a superb bar, a really excellent selection of drinks and cocktails. I fancied a cocktail, being that it was Valentine's. The manager even concocted a cocktail especially for me that wasn't even on the cocktail menu. Very yummy indeed. I would most definitely recommend this restaurant/bar to anyone living or visiting Banbury. A lovely building and ambience and the service was second to none. All round a very enjoyable experience. Thank you Church House for making my evening so wonderful!
