We were 2 couples stayed here for 2 nights last weekend . We were warmly welcomed by the lady of the house, Poppy. The house is full of pictures and family momentoes, it felt like we were visiting old firends instead of paying guests. The rooms were lovely (the Tulip room slightly on the small side, but very cosy). The bedrooms had a kettle and tea, coffee, milk and buiscuits. Lovely towels, gowns and gels etc in the bathroom. Both bathrooms and bedrooms very nice and warm. Even in mid October the gardens had plenty of flowers and were beautiful. In the house there were vases of garden flowers in hallway and dinning room. Breakfast was cooked fresh when you requested it and to your order. It was eaten around a large table in the dinning room which meant that we spoke to other guests and swaped place to visit near by. All in all, a very relaxing weekend, enjoyed by all and enhanced by our lovely hostess. Thank you.

My wife and I recently spent four beautiful days at the Uplands House in Banbury, England.
We have positive comments about the property and the owners. From the moment we arrived, we were well cared for in every way from refreshing afternoon tea to expert sight-seeing advice to delicious breakfasts and excellent dinners «accompagnés d’excellent fromages». Poppy was a wonderful and generous host, looked after us, as though we were the most important guests she had ever had, and also thanks to the 4 other guests staying at the same time as us, meant that we had a wonderful moment.
We stayed in the Chinese Room where my wife felt like « une princesse». It was quiet, elegant, comfortable and relaxing. We visited easily Strafford upon Avon, Blenheim, Broadway, Stow in the Wold and Bourton on the Water.

I would highly recommend Uplands House to anyone wishing for fine accommodations in a quiet, charming and elegant English country setting. If we travel back to England, we’d definitely stay there again…
It has been a wonderful experience of the «Art de vivre à l’Anglaise». Thanks again Poppy for all your generosities. We will never forget the wonderful holidays we have had at the Uplands House.

Room Tip: Chinese room, quiet, elegant, comfortable and relaxing.

A very warm welcome upon our arrival, quiet easy to find as Poppy had sent us excellent instructions before hand,we stayed in the tulip room which is the smallest room in the house but was more than adequate for our needs with everything in in from shampoo and bubble bath to robes and face wipes, dinner was fab and the conversation entertaining.
We had exactly what we wanted for breakfast the next morning and then spent the day visiting all the lovely places in the Cotswolds.
I would certainly visit again perhaps in summer to enjoy the croquet and eating outside.
A big plus for us as we were allowed us to bring our little dog!

Accommodations are a unique blend of English history and modern convenience. Beautiful antiques combined with old world hospitality, make this B&B a great escape from the big city tempo. Bright, clean rooms with all the amenities found in the city, overlooking farmlands and pastures of livestock.

This was the perfect setting for our post wedding brunch hosted and prepared by the Inn's proprietor, Poppy Cooksey. The food was expertly prepared and delicious. A perfect ending to a special occasion.

We only stayed for the one night, but Poppy made our stay memorable and we will certainly be back. Nothing was too much trouble, from the afternoon tea as soon as we had settled in, the wine and cheese (the most extensive local cheeseboard I have ever seen!) after dinner to the breakfast with homemade jam and marmalade. This is a special treat, so relaxed, but also classy and stylish. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: The Tulip room was beautifully presented and gave us a perfecy night's sleep
