“you get what you pay for”
Reviewed June 16, 2012

Stayed here for 1 night on a trip to Oxford & thought it looked pretty good online as it did have some good reviews. However if you like a good night's sleep, comfy bed, hot shower & just a wee bit of space in your room then this is not the place to stay!! The guesthouse sits on Oxford road and has lots of traffic - which you can hear all night! The bed was ok but not attached in any way to the mattress or bedstead so kept moving around! I cant say any more about the shower other than it didn't even reach lukewarm temperatures, even after running more than 5 minutes. I had a tiny room on the ground floor which despite being only 5'4", could almost touch both walls with fully outstretched arms. It was pretty claustrophic & is due to them obviously adding make-shift ensuites which cuts the room in half!! I will say that the staff do work hard to keep the place clean and provide good breakfasts, but that doesn't balance all the other negatives!!

Room Tip: If you must stay here it may be better to have a room as far away from road as possible

Thank you for your review. I am very pleased you found your room clean & enjoyed breakfast. Any problems can be reported to reception and we will happily sort them out or move you to a different room. We are located on the Oxford Road, a short walk from the town centre which is very convenient for many guests.

we stayed here as a group prior to a wedding. The garden rooms allocated to us, were very clean and comfortable with plenty of hot water and a pleasant outside seating area was at our disposal. the Super, friendly owners demonstrated a refreshing "can Do" attitude and served a good, well-cooked breakfast. Highly recommend this as a place to stay and very convenient for Banbury town centre

Room Tip: ask for the garden rooms if you are a party

We would certainly stay here again. The proprietors were very welcoming and helpful. We had a family room which was lovely, spacious and very comfortable. It felt like a hotel in some respects with attention to detail. Breakfast was lovely too & even our fussy little monsters enjoyed it! Good value for money too.

stayed in one of the chalet rooms at the rear and it was a very nice well presented room clean and tidy. relaxing and quiet and really close to Banbury town centre for shopping. Had a handy parking space right outside the door for easy access for unloading. we could not fault the breakfast it was spot on with really good service from the young lady Holly. We visit Banbury and the area often and will defiantly be stopping again.

Fantastic stay, I was upgraded to the biggest chalet with my dog as it was the Christmas period and they were quiet. The room was clean and warm and had coffee, tea & biscuits. Alan & Maureen couldn't have been any friendlier or helpful if they tried. I stupidly got the breakfast time wrong on the 2nd morning but they still made me some toast. :o)
The only downside was the new houses being built next door as builders start early....Lol. This will obviously not be a problem when they've finished.
I will definately choose to stay here again if I need to stay in Banbury again.

We booked a twin room for the weekend of a nearby festival, we liked the look of the rooms from the website.
We were given an attic room up and down several flights of stairs, it was clean but cramped, and the view from the window was of a chimney.
The bathroom was like being on an aeroplane.
I lost count of the number of times I hit me head (I'm 5' 10") even just trying to brush my teeth.
We asked if all the twin/double rooms were the same price, and were told that they were.
If you're just looking for somewhere to lay your head it's fine, but if you're over 5 foot tall take a hard hat.

Room Tip: Avoid Room 8!

Thank you for your review. It's a shame you waited until you checked out to ask about our other rooms, I would have happily moved you to another room as there were others available. The bathroom in your room is a little cramped. I am currently awaiting a quote to remove the sloped ceiling in there.

I am pleased you found us clean and enjoyed our service.
