I've been to Frankie & Benny's in quite a few places in the UK. This specific occasion was a drop-in after watching a film at Empire, Basildon since we hadn't been in a very long time. Sadly, like the other occasions I was slightly disappointed. The food quantity has never been this restaurant's strong point with a "wrap and chips meals" resulting in two very small and almost empty wraps and a very small portion of chips on the side. The service was reasonably attentive this time, but on asking for a replacement set of cutlery, cutlery still arrived with food stuck to it. Also both tables we were placed on had wobbly legs which the waitress attempted to fix once, but then gave up and left, resulting in a continuously rocking table. Funny to note that in the 1 hour we were there, there were 5 children's birthdays - possibly a place more suited to bringing children. Overall, the pricing is slightly less (2 to 3 pounds per person less) than a good Italian such as Zizzi's or Prezzo's, but ranks much worse on service, decor, quantity or quality of food.
