When entering the room I can only describe there being a 'wet dog' smell. After a little investigation, I concluded it came from the bathroom, nothing visible, but possibly the drains, so we kept the bathroom door closed and that seemed to keep the smell from pervading the bedroom. Also the ceiling lights were not working. Hopefully both of these issues will be resolved as everything else was fine.
Not for families. Checked in later after a 4 hour drive. Pub connected to premier inn is for over 18's only so couldnt have food. Had to walk down dark unmade roads to festival park. Room was on ground floor and herd of elephants in room above. Horrendous!
Hi there Dawn,
Thanks for getting in touch with us about your stay at Basildon.
It's really disappointing to hear that you didn't enjoy your stay with your family with us and couldn't dine with us in the pub that was connected. It's also a shame there was so much noise from the guests above you in the night. We can appreciate what a disturbance this would have been when trying to get a goodnight sleep.
We would like to assure you we have made sure that all your feedback and comments have been passed on to the relevant teams. This also includes the manager of the hotel who will be able to chase this up with the hotel team to help prevent any similar issues from happening again.
Once again we are very sorry for any disappointment on this occasion Dawn, but we are confident on your next experience you will have a much more enjoyable stay!
I paid £39 for a family room for a Friday night, which is very good value. The room was immaculate with a very large, comfortable bed and two smaller beds for the kids. The bathroom was very nice too.
Stayed here for the absolute bargain price of £30! It’s not luxury of course and it’s a dreadfully grotty place but the hotel itself is fine. The front desk were very helpful and friendly and the room was clean and the bed comfy
So if you have the misfortune to have to stay in Basildon then this place is recommended
