We booked our stay last minute for the August Bank Holiday and were looking for something along the lines of camping without having to buy and transport everything that was needed. I came across the 'Hut', liked its quirkiness and booked it straight away, we were not disappointed. The Owner's correspondence was prompt, friendly and informative from the moment of booking. In person, they were friendly and welcoming, Andrew came to meet with us and gave us a tour as soon as we pulled up - you could not ask for better. The location of the hut is ideal, within travelling distance of all the main towns you would wish to visit in the area. We had our dog with us and she loved the hut and garden/field that she was free to explore.
The hut itself is quaint, relatively spacious surprisingly and came equipped with everything we needed - including a lovely welcome hamper with a delicious homemade fruit loaf, a lovely touch. Immaculately clean, comfortable bed and running water, what more could you ask for? The toilet was located immediately behind the hut, fitted with the great idea of a flood light for through the night and sensor lights inside so no need for torches! The use of a shower by the owner's accommodation was also a great addition on a morning. There is also WIFI provided which is handy for planning activities etc and watching Netflix at night!
We had a BBQ one night and booked a table at the Swann Inn in Kettleshulme (only a 5/10 minute walk) near to the Hut and it is highly recommended.
Overall, absolutely nothing to dislike and we will definitely be returning!

Spent 3 nights here with my husband. Absolutely lovely. Very clean, lovely location. Had our own toilet and access to the owners shower. A hamper was left for us on our arrival, which was very welcoming. The area is beautiful. We took our dog with us and had lots of walks to take him on. Wish we had booked for longer. We had never been on a holiday like this before but if you want total peace and quiet and complete rest I thoroughly recommend the shepherds hut. The owners were very welcoming and friendly.
We've just stayed here this weekend and well what can we say... The views are fantastic. So peaceful and quiet. During the day we drove to Castleton (about 20 minutes drive) we've been there before and enjoy doing one of the several walks there and visiting the castle and cave, but I am aware there also various walks closer to the hut if you are a walker.. Unfortunately we only stayed for one night and so ran out of time to go explore. On the night we was unable to get into the Swann pub for a meal as was fully booked (this was highly recommended as a place to eat as well so would advise you pre-book this) we drove about 15 minutes to a pub called the hanging gate. Both had a steak and was cooked to perfection. Really lovely pub. Now as for the shepards hut.. This is just simply fantastic. If your looking for a cosy romantic night or 2 away this is the place to stay. It is small but you have the perfect amount of space for what you need. The bed was very comfy, everything was so clean and tidy. The owner had left us a lovely little hamper with a bottle of wine, some home made fruit loaf, water, bread and eggs/ butter. There's a little hut behind the hut with a toilet in which was also very clean. And just a very short walk there is shower room and toilet (attached to the house) which you can have access too anytime. The owners were so lovely and accommodating, really nice people. Definitely would recommend this to anyone! We're already discussing our next visit here we loved it that much :)
