Description: Housed in a former hardware store we have a character filled building with reclaimed and antique furniture, an open kitchen and a huge leather sofa in front of our wood burning stove to relax on. We have craft beers, cask ales and fine wines to accompany our ever changing menu swell as a great selection of spirits, we play an eclectic selection of music from folk and jazz to soul and funk and are currently putting together some live music performances for the coming months. in addition to our lively restaurant and bar we have 5 letting rooms all en-suite which are decorated in a similar traditional fashion.

Really didnt expect such a good night in buxton! We were visiting for the bank holiday weekend and ended up at number 13 on friday evening. We arrived to a buzzing atmosphere with a dj playing soul music, had some great cocktails from the bar and checked out the menu. Unfortunately food had stopped but Seb (barman) put together a little antipasti for us and we stayed till the end! Decided to go and try a meal on saturday evening, again the ambience was cracking…this time a guitar duo playing while we ate our meal. We both had steak and jaipur pie which was possibly the best pie ive had! No starters but shared a cheesecake which also fantastic! The bill for two with 2 pints and a bottle of wine was less than 40 pounds (if id have had this in manchesters northern quarter where i live i would expect to pay closer to 60) weve never bothered with tripadvisor but felt we had such a good time and were looked after so well that we had to give it a mention. Apparently they only opened in summer so well done guys and well definately be back up for the new menu and music night when you do it in october.
All the best, paul and ali x

A nice place, good menu if a little light on the choices, good pint of Jaipur, we ate steaks and the ladies ate pasta. took ages for the starters to come and just as long for the mains to arrive, not a full restaurant either so service was slow. we were not offered water at the table nor was there condiments on the table English mustard is not dijon mustard and if your serving steaks you need to know the difference. the menu was funky brown paper,They don't take cards but for £100 bill for 4 diners and drinks on a tab ( businessmen with healthy appetites pay with cards!) So its about time they did. Serving expensive gin and tonics in IKea glasses wasn't cool nor was the waitress getting the bar order wrong twice. BUT! a great little place to eat with bags of potential and lots of charm nice music great decor, Food was delicious and good portions, pasta swimming in sauce instead of being tossed in sauce, only gripe from the ladies and slow service the only gripe from us all. give them a try its not all bad but come on guys go and see you competition see and look and learn how they do it and on a Saturday night how they are full and you were not. so much good potential here don't waste it with a that'll do attitude oh and waitresses nice smiles but when we asked for sugar you gave us an empty sugar bowl LOOK! Great night here thanks, S and J and G and D

My husband and I went here on Saturday night. He picked the place after reading reviews on Tripadvisor and I am very glad he did. I started with baked Camembert and James had pate, both were delicious but the best was yet to come. We both had the no. 13 steak which tasted amazing! The steak was tasty and well cooked. It came with creamy mustard mash, peas with bacon lardons and a balsamic sauce. The whole plate was incredibly tasty! We finished off our meal with ice cream and homemade strawberry cheesecake. It was very good value, costing £54 with a drink each. I highly recommend it and it's only a shame we do not live closer to be able to go more often. There were 5 choices of starters, mains and puddings which was plenty. There were 3 meat dishes, one fish and one veggie pasta dish. One small downside was the service was a little hit and miss. We had to ask 3 times for some water but we think our waitress may have been new and we know the place has not been open for too long. Do not let this put you off as the chef really knows what he is doing and the service was very friendly. The setting was nice and I loved the music. All in all, a great meal out.
