The Servant's Quarters has had exceptional favourable reviews and the guest's comments book is also full of positive comments all totally deserved as is the Tripadvisor 5 star rating. The accommodation suited us perfectly (two couples), it's all been said before but I will pick out location, cleanliness, attention to detail, communication from the owners (that would leave professional companies looking like amateurs) and not forgetting the welcome pack. This business deserves to flourish.
The cottage is set just a couple of streets back from the lovely park, and a short walk from Buxton's amenities - including small supermarket, shops, cafes, restaurants and some excellent pubs.
From the moment we made the booking, Pete's emails made us feel very welcome, and the thoughtful touches were evident in the cottage facilities and the lovely welcome pack in the kitchen.
We made the booking last-minute, hoping for a snowy weekend and that's just what we got. Buxton is the perfect spot to be snowed in - so pretty, loads of cafes and cosy pubs, parks to sledge in and a shopping centre. A lot less spoilt than many holiday towns and better value. The locals also seemed a lot more enthusiastic about tourists than in some places we've stayed.
The cottage has 2 lovely double bedrooms - one on the ground floor level close to the main bathroom, and the other with a great en suite - so it would be perfect for a family or for a group of friends. The sitting room and kitchen are down a level, and there's also a lovely little garden to the back. The kitchen is a good size, and you could easily cook meals in it if you don't want to eat out.
There are plenty of maps, leaflets and guide books in the cottage, and Pete's folder is well worth the read!
The value was excellent. I really couldn't fault this accommodation at all. We'd mentioned in our email exchange that it would be good to put a face to the name, so it was nice that Pete was able to pop in for a few minutes - I have no doubt that he would sort out any issues that anyone had very promptly.
Given the weather, we didn't do as much walking as we normally would, but enjoyed a walk up to Solomons Temple. I'm sure there must be some great walks to do in the summer.
Our favourite bar was 53 Degrees North, just round the corner - roaring fire, live music, plenty of gins and beers to work through and very friendly staff. It really was a lovely weekend to unwind before Christmas.
Required accommodation at short notice from mid-week accessible for the centre of Buxton and for walking the Pennine Bridleway and was pleased to find this property on cottages.com. Excellent communication from the very helpful owners who go well beyond the norm. They also take on board constructive feedback and do their best to correct any issues.
Spotless, spacious and special. Excellent flat in Buxton, walking distance to Opera House, shops, restaurants, park etc. Warm and well equipped. Nicely furnished and decorated. Would recommend. Good to have two bathrooms, and the welcome goodies were a very nice touch - soon consumed. thank you!
What a fantastic place to call home for a weekend in beautiful Buxton. The communication was the best we've ever had and nothing was too much trouble for Pete - excellent restaurant and trip recommendations too.
The Servant's Quarters is a perfect retreat - exceptionally clean (and I'm pretty fussy!) and very well equipped. There really is nothing that could be done to improve this accommodation and to be within walking distance to the many fabulous attractions that the Peak District has to offer was an added bonus too. We will definitely be back!
Excellent communication from first contact. Five star personal service from the moment we stepped off the train. Welcome pack was much appreciated, we fought over the delicious homemade biscuits. The Servants' Quarters is very well equipped and comfortable. We had everything we needed to make this accommodation our home for a month. Couldn't ask for a better location; quiet neighborhood and only a short walk to the park, opera house, rail station, bus stops, pubs and shops. You also couldn't ask for better hosts, Pete and Catherine go the extra mile to make you feel welcome. We hope to return to Buxton and The Servants' Quarters.
The Servants' Quarters really was a lucky find. It is tucked away and quiet yet only minutes walk from the Pavilion Gardens and Buxton Centre. The house is immaculate and provides everything you need for a comfortable week's stay. The welcome pack provided includes some treats as well as bread, milk, eggs etc. I think Pete and Catherine have thought of everything. A huge 'thanks' to them for making our break great.
