Me and my hubby visited Buxton in September 2013 and we have to say what a lovely town it is.
I don't usually write reviews on places but I saw in the window of this cafe they are listed on here and I HAD to share my excellent experience. On our last day in Buxton we decided to eat out for dinner before heading home, and this cafe was very inviting. After being greeted by a friendly waitress we decided on the home-made pies, yum yum!! We paid around £15.00 and it was definitely money well spent. After reading the reviews on here I have to say that some people will never be happy, we had pies and we found the portion sizes more than enough! I was however very tempted by the carrot cake on display!
The waitress was very helpful and whoever trained this young lady needs a big pat on the back. Not many waitresses wish you a safe journey home!
Thank you, STARS, we very much enjoyed our visit to your cafe and have already recommended to mother and father in-law as they are heading up to buxton next month.
Also, we very much enjoyed your wall pictures - especially the Marilyn Monroe!

Went there a couple of weeks back with my eight year old lad.It looked ok from the street but soon wished we hadn't bothered. The portions were stingy to say the least. my son having a singular small sausage and around a dozen small chips and me having pie, chips and gravy on small plate. didn't taste nice either.what topped it was the loud, whinging waitress.never again!

please can you give more information on when you visited my cafe,(time and date) as i would be only to happy to check my cctv, to discover which staff members were in that day,
I do find it difficult to believe that my staff would swear in front of customers, never mind children, as for the food being poor, please let me know what it was you consumed, as all our food is freshly prepared, and therefore should not be of poor quality, its a shame you did not mention any of this when you settled your bill, as we ALWAYS ask our customers if everything was ok. please feel free to make yourself known at stars cafe, 95 spring gardens, (opposite iceland) as i fear you may have reviewed the wrong cafe, I will be more than happy to discuss your complaints, and come to a satisfactory conclusion. regards. Dawn

Came here on my mothers birthday expecting lunch, tea and cake. Never noticed the cafe before until today, and it looked cosy and pleasant so we went it. After sitting at an empty yet dirty table (which doesn't bother me as I'm not the stuck up kind) we were greeted by a rude waitress who took our order. Two paninis took 45 minutes to come!! No apology. Chips were oven chips that you get at home. Didnt have time for tea and cake as the stay was up on our car due to waiting for the food do long. Cakes were individually portioned wrapped in cling film. Not what you expect from the outside. What a waste of £14.50 and a big damper on my mothers birthday. Stay clear.
