Good quality accommodation at an excellent price, with the bonus of free off-road parking. The bedrooms have all got complimentary Sky tv, including sports, which is great value. Good, and massive, breakfasts, and the pub is a lively and fun place for a drink too!

We spent one Saturday night at The Queen's Head and like other reviewers have said it really is the night to be avoided if possible. The pub doesn't have a "beer garden" so the car park behind the pub becomes a loud smoking area / beer garden (especially on a hot sunny day like the night we stayed). The talking carried on til the early morning. There is also a noisy fan outside of the family room, which we initially found annoying but to be honest it was a good constant noise that drowned out the noise of the people talking... Until it switched off!

On the positive side; the room was clean except for cobwebs around the ceiling, but the bathroom, floors and bedding were clean which is the most important thing. The room was also a really nice cool temperature on a really hot day - though can't report what it would be like in the cooler months of the year. The staff were very friendly from arrival to departure.

The breakfast was good and plentiful consisting of; cereal, toast, tea/coffee, fruit juice, fried; sausages, bacon, mushrooms, eggs, tomato, bread.

Finally, don't assume you will be able to park in the car park every night of your stay. The car park is tiny and whilst we were lucky enough to find a space on arrival and when we came back on the evening, each time we took the last available "space". Cars were double parked later in the evening and can imagine some guests may have to pay to park in a local car park.

Room Tip: Avoid Saturday night if possible.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review on TripAdvisor. It is a general rule to lock the back door at 11pm at night so as not to disturb guests. Since your visit we have carried our a schedule of modernisation and have even built 6 new rooms that have been decorated to a very high standard. I hope you will return in the future to experience this. I'm very pleased that you found the staff to be friendly and the breakfast to be plentiful.

I have just spent 3 nights at the Queens Head, whilst on a walking trip with friends. The Hotel is easy to find and has it's own small car park. Upon arrival we were greeted with a friendly smile, and although we had arrived early they allowed us to drop our bags in the rooms before we set off on a walk. I had booked a single room, and was pleasantly surprised to have a large family room with a double bed and 2 single beds. There are tea and coffee making facilities, a flat screen tv, with a basic sky package and plenty of storage. There is an en-suite, including a bath, which was spotless. The only problem I had was that the hot water ran out when I was having a shower, which I think was down to one of my neighbours running a bath at the same time. The breakfasts are good and plentiful, and always served with a smile. The main sights of Buxton are easily within walking distance and there are plenty of bars and restaurants a couple of minutes walk away.

Situated about a 5 minute stroll from the business end of things in Buxton, this place is a big, lively pub with annexe rooms in the courtyard. We received a very friendly welcome and were pointed in the direction of room 4. On opening the door it wasn't quite what we expected as a flight of stairs lay before us. Up we tramped to an open plan bedroom, simply furnished with a double bed, tea and coffee and a big flat screen telly. To be honest, you couldn't have fit anything else in as it was on the 'compact and bijou' side. Decent bathroom/shower.

We popped into the bar for a couple of drinks and again, were met with a friendly greeting. Decent pint from an extensive range of beers, great jukebox and a pool table. I could have spent the rest of the night there if we weren't going to the opera house. Sleep wise, the bed was okay, firm mattress but the heating was a touch excessive. If you open the windows you might be greeted by the various aromas of the takeaways that close by. Made my stomach rumble. The walls are a bit thin which results in you being able to hear next door switching their light on and off. If they'd been up to anything else, breakfast could have been a bit embarrassing. Breakfast was fine, plenty of it and served with a big smiley face again.

In conclusion, I'd stay again if it was just for a night. Don't go expecting the ritz as its a no frills sort of place but very friendly.

My partner and I were booked into a another B & B in buxton for two nights. After our first night staying in the most dirty, disgusting B & B ever (Nat's Kithchen) we were desperate to move. We came across the Queens Head Hotel via having a drink in there. We asked if they had any room vacancies and the owner showed us the rooms he had.

The room had a nice convervatory and then another locked door leading into the bedroom. It was heaven... clean, fresh, smelt fresh and warm.

We had a cooked breakfast, which was very tasty and well presented. I can not fault this B & B and I can recommend it to all of you out there looking for a clean, central location, friendly staff and warm welcome.

Well done to all the staff at The Queens Head Hotel for making our second night special and wishing that we had booked into there in the first place.

Stayed over for a 2 night break to attend a wedding have been happier!

Was really easy to find and nice and central, we checked in when the bar was quite busy and the staff made time to show us where everything was and fill us in with breakfast info etc, we stayed in room 4 which was cosy, clean and an excellent use of space. Shower was amazing. No noise problems/ parking problems at all and a really good nights sleep.
Breakfast was lovely no cheap ingredients and all fresh and came quickly.

Pub regulars were friendly and polite (and full of local info on great places to go) staff went out of their way to be helpful you never felt unwelcome.

Will be returning for a proper tour of Buxton very soon!
