The tour guide was very knowledgeable and entertaining and the caves themselves were quite awe inspiring - well worth a visit and the cafe was very reasonably priced

Well worth visiting, although quite expensive (make sure you gift aid it). The caves are really impressive, and the guides are very knowledgeable and helpful. The paths and the visitor centre look like they have been done up quite recently. Cups of tea and cookies in the café afterwards were very welcome – it’s cold in the cavern. You can also walk up to the folly on the hill in the country – if you follow the path from the Cavern it’s quite an easy walk – about half an hour to get there.

I highly recommend Pooles cavern, then layout is really good, our guide (Steve) was friendly, knowledgable and had a good sense of humour, plus the caverns themselves are well laid out, mvery easy access, and arranged to be exciting without being scary ( with a five y/o in the group that was important). The walk to solomons temple gives a great view over the countyside, plus lots of play opportunity for the kids. A good 2-3 hours

The day after a snowstorm, we managed to get to the cavern. We were the only ones, so we had our own private tour and learned about the caverns. We were led around by a young guy (he said he was 22), and he knew a lot about the caverns and its history. He showed us some Victorian pipe and some broken shards of glass found in the caverns, and we were led around the different cave rooms. Well worth a visit and one of the wonders of the Peak District.
