We stayed for a week during the Gilbert and Sullivan festival and found the Victorian very comfortable with interesting rooms (all have individual character). The hosts were very helpful, friendly, and attentive. They cook a good breakfast as well!

The location overlooks spectacular gardens, and is central to shops, restaurants and (of course!) the Opera House. There is even a public swimming pool nearby! (hence the pool rating ;-)

I've stayed at the guest house several times now, and each time has been delightful, but the most recent, over the late August bank holiday, topped them all. Wonderful setting and beautiful rooms (one of the comfiest beds I've ever slept in), friendly and knowledgeable hosts (they gave us lots of advice for where to go swimming and walking in the area), and a fantastic breakfast. The attention to detail made the trip and that more special and I'm just looking forward to finding the time to go back again.

Room Tip: Having stayed in a few of the rooms on different occasions, I can recommend them all.

We stayed here for 3 nights over the bank holiday weekend in the Peveril room. The room was immaculate, with a beautiful bathroom, soft white towels and the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in! The owners-Barbara and Alan were lovely hosts, and we couldn't fault Alan's award winning breakfast-the perfect start to the day. We really appreciated the little touches such as tea and coffee on arrival and mini eggs in a beautiful cut glass bowl by the bed! It is in a perfect location for exploring Buxton and the surrounding peak district. Everything is within walking distance of the B&B and the beautiful gardens are opposite. The best B&B I have ever been to-I can't recommend it highly enough.

Room Tip: All the rooms are amazing! I would go for the peveril or four poster room

The B&B couldn't be better located to enjoy Buxton. The room was full of character and very comfortable - I had a wonderful night's sleep. The shower was great. The breakfast was delicious - just the right size and perfect eggs. And such welcoming hosts.

Some time after we booked the owners asked us if we were willing to change rooms because of another guest's requirements. We agreed with some slight reluctance - but in fact the room which we were allocated (Peveril) was excellent - lots of really good attention to detail - and with a particularly marvellous bathroom.

Breakfast was also excellent - cooked food and range of fruits, etc.

Lastly, we found ourselves having to curtail our stay because of illness, and this was met with great understanding by the owners despite this being a very busy time of year. In fact it s worth saying that the owners and their staff were unfailingly polite and helpful - which sadly is not always the case in other places.

Room Tip: We thought that the Peveril room was really good.
