We have stayed at the Old Hall Hotel on a number of occasions and find it a lovely hotel for the money. The breakfasts are superb and the 2 ladies who serve them delightful.
The hotel has a wonderful history which makes it good fun to explore as each time we stay we find out something else.
It is an excellent location for a sleepover when visiting the Buxton Opera House.

The hotel staff are friendly and considerate. The restaurant is a lovely setting for breakfast & dinner & the hotel's location is the best in Buxton. The rooms have everything you need, if a little dated in style & furnishings.

This hotel is like staying in a museum with artifacts and old paintings all around the hotel. We stayed in room 26 where mary queen of scots was imprisoned, this is a great room with a four poster bed to die for. Theres plenty of history in this room, with a portrait of mary on the wall watching your every move.It has a modern bathroom which is clean and full of complimentary goodies. We need to talk breakfast because it also adds to the selling point,a full buffet breakfast followed by a full English, now that's what I call value and very tasty.Buxton is a great base for visiting the peak district and also theres pooles cavern within walking distance.Overall a great stay and would certainly stay there again.

A beautiful old charming hotel, wonderful room and very good service and staff. The food is very ordinary though... we had a deal with evening meal included and it was very average. My starter of terrine was dry and tasteless, the rib eye steak was pretty awful and covered in a gloopy sauce, but the pudding was good.
A live band in the basement, a good wine list, some decent local beers - a really nice hotel - just have a word with the chef!

Room tip: Go for one of the 4 poster bed rooms, you won't be disappointed!
