As we drew up to the hotel it was apparent it was in need of a refurb- the paint was peeling on the window frames etc. There wasnt much parking on the front of the hotel but you could park in the cul de sac to the side of the hotel. Our room was on the second floor. The room was large but furniture and decor very outdated. The large window only had a top opening light which in the heat didn't allow much fresh air. Also being on the front facing the main road it was rather noisy all night. The en-suite was much the same with the shower curtain 2 foot short of the shower tray-hence the floor got quite wet.

The dining room had been refurbished but wasnt quite finished- bare wires hanging out of walls in places. The cereal and fruit choice at breakfast was limited but the English breakfast was good and staff were plesant and attentive.

All in all the hotel is situated in a good position for the town but does need some updating.

Room Tip: Back room if possible as facing a busy road.

The "hotel" was a very big disappointment. We booked for 2 nights. Our double room was bleak and had filthy windows/ curtains. The overall woodwork inside and public areas needed cleaning ie dòors , skirting boards. The newly renovated breakfast area had wires hanging from walls. We left after one nights stay. Would of walked out on first night but payment was non refundable so tried to give it a go. Never again.

Avoid this hotel like the plague, it is old fashioned, badly run and the staff are at best terse.
The room I had was booked via Bookings.com but I cannot figure out how to leave a review there.
The room has coffee stained notices, frayed and damaged lampshades, curtains not fully connected to curtain rail and mildew on the bathroom seals. The bathroom suit was a 1970's peach colour.
There is a drawing of upgrades being made to the hotel dated 2015 and not a single sign of anything being built.
Save your money and go somewhere that cares about its customers and understands what it means to run a hotel in 21st century.
Photos uploaded as proof.

Room Tip: The hotel is shameful - do not book - EVER

The twin room was tiny, the shower pressure was horrible. Breakfast was lacking a lot of essentials, but the cooked-to-order breakfast was good. It's close to the centre of town, but on a road that trucks travel down, so quite loud at the front of the hotel. Good if you don't plan on spending any time at the hotel except for sleeping after a day of exploring.

Clearly the hotel is in need of redecoration and some attention. However it is the warmth and generosity of the manager and staff that made us feel very comfortable and happy. We had lovely large room and a substantial breakfast. We can recommend it to those people who are not fussy about cosmetic details.

Room Tip: We got a free upgrade to a larger room, so may pay to book when they're not too busy
