Noisy room, staff a bit surly.
The food in the evening was microwaved and not freshly cooked.
Breakfast very poor.
Not recommended.
A tired hotel that needs a kick up the butt!!
Was on a motorcycle tour and the next night stayed in Best Western in Anglesea which was cheaper and much better.

Stayed here for one night early in July. We were allocated the same room as the reviewer "Amber49". This is room 25 which is on a corner of the hotel. One window overlooks a very busy, noisy main road, and the other window overlooks the kitchen and the bin area. Charming! Kitchen staff took their smoke breaks directly underneath our window and we were able to listen in to their conversations. Room was tired, with paint peeling off the window and window frame and lino curling up in the bathroom. Don't know what the other rooms were like but I can only judge it on what they allocated to us. Considering what we paid, we expected much better.

booked onine and arrived to find function booked in evening for teen prom.. noise was loud and directly below room...
Room itself also poorly soundproofed, with paper thin walls and easily audible noise from adjoining shower/wc etc..

Staff friendly enough, conservatory nice, breakfast reasonable
Hotel would be nice for a buisness trip etc but not a special occasion!

This hotel was selected as a convenient hotel that takes dogs, half way between our home and my parents' home, so purely by chance.

It proved to be an excellent choice. Although service sometimes got slow because of a slight staff shortage, it was overall very good. The food was excellent, and the restaurant team bent over backwards to provide gluten free bread for my husband (including going out Monday morning to get some more).

However, the hotel needs to be clearer on its dog policy. When the hotel was booked we were assured that dogs are allowed in the bar area, but after arrival we were told they are not. We do not book dog-friendly hotels unless they are also allowed in the bar area because there is no point in holidaying with a dog if you have to lock them away. The hotel agreed to honour what we had been told on the phone, which is very good of them. I would urge them to in future always allow dogs into the bar area, as they will get more bookings from dog owners.

Please note that was only a minor niggle that was quickly resolved. Overall, the hotel was excellent.

We liked the fact that this hotel was not part of a chain, but family run. Service was friendly and very good on the whole.
Room was clean, well maintained and a good size, but ours was on the top floor with a small window making it quite dark. We paid £100 b/b for the room which we felt was ok but not great value.

Staff were friendly and very helpful. Our room was not what we expected from the pictures on the website, however it was very clean and comfortable albeit noisy. We could occasionally hear people talking on the landing and we were woken early by someone using the toilet in the next room.....not what you want to hear on a supposedly romantic night away from the kids!!!

Like the previous reviewers I was impressed with the standard of accommodation and quality of the catering for the price. I was on business so company picked up the tab. Colleagues and myself ate in the restaurant (conservatory) in the evening and my selection from the a la carte menu was first class. All of the hotel staff from reception to those waiting on table were attentive and genuinely welcoming. For a double, my room (no 20) was a bit on the small side but there was only me (and I'm small myself!) but it was very quite even though I faced the car park. I would certainly recommend this hotel to friends and family.
