“Characterful with a great sense of humour”

In a great location, The Buckingham does not take itself too seriously. With lots of film references you will find yourself wandering round to ensure you don't miss anything. The breakfast is fantastic with a very large choice and the room we stayed in was a good size. The staff are friendly and nothing is too much trouble.

The toilet/shower room was cleaned to a good standard, as was the bedroom. We took bottled water into our room and it would have been useful if the ice machine had been working and maybe if an ice bucket was in the room to collect some ice.

Would definitely recommend and will go again when in Buxton it was great fun reading all the jokey information signs. A very enjoyable stay.

Fascinating Hotel. Full of Theatre and film posters. Very friendly staff. Food was superb - the breakfasts enormous with at least 50 jams, and 50 cereals to choose from, and locally sourced cooked produce. We ate in the restaurant on both evenings and the quality of food again was excellent, as were the ales.
We chose the hotel because of its location opposite the Pavillion Gardens and Opera House, and because it welcomes dogs. And we weren't disappointed. They really do welcome (well behaved) dogs.
Loved our stay at the Buckingham and will definitely return.

Room Tip: Room 23. Huge room and bathroom. Park Views

After enjoying a cold beer and the rugby last Saturday afternoon my group of 9 ladies decided to book for dinner at 7.30. On entering the resturant we were informed that there would be a delay due to a large party in the hotel resturant. The order was taken but unfortunately it was 9.15 before we were served. The staff were very apologetic but the Manager refused to speak with us and completly ignored the problem. The meal was enjoyable and discounted but nevertheless not acceptable, sorry. We were not staying at the hotel so are unable to comment on the other facilities.

The hotel is ideally situated for the town. Just on the edge of the park, with a two minute walk to the opera house and town. The rooms are large and all themed with pictures of movie stars. Although the rooms were clean and tidy they did look a little old fashioned with there decor. The bed was really comfy. The hotel looked clean and tidy, and was nice and warm. The breakfast was amazing, every thing you wanted was there, every kind of cereal, fruit, cooked breakfasts, a choice of them including smoked haddock and kippers, six different types of juices, and i have never seen such a collection of jams and marmalades. We had a lovely stay there on valentines night. The price was good as well. We will definatly be staying there again.

As soon as we walked into this hotel we felt right at home. The movie/ theatre theme throughout the hotel adds character and personality to the hotel which I loved. The rooms are huge with a very big on suite to. The cleanliness was very impressive no dirt anywhere. The staff are all very helpful there was a domestic that happened during the night and the staff solved the situation straight away. You couldn't ask for a better location its a stones throw from everything. The breakfasts was amazing with a huge range of choices. I recommend this hotel to anyone. If you stay at this hotel don't forget to say hello to mr whippy!
