We booked all 3 houses for a surprise 50th for 23 people - including 7 teenagers.
Couldn't fault anything really - they are all brilliantly equipped the conservatory dining room is really cool.
there are great 5 miles walks to good pubs nearby and there is an okay local pub 5 mins walk away.
I would recommend this to anyone.
Have just returned from a wonderful long weekend. Our group was 16 strong and ranged from 17 - 69.
The Star was perfect! We booked all 3 properties.
All 3 properties are superbly decorated to a very high standard; bedrooms were spacious and comfortable and most had ensuite facilities. Kitchens are amazingly well equipped.
For us, The highlight is the huge kitchen and wonderful dinning area in main house which allowed us to party, socialise & sit together as an entire group ...
Peak venues were superb to deal with. Very efficient & no problems at all. The owner may live on the ground but was very low profile, in fact we didn't see him at all after he greeted us on arrival.
I am very happy to recommend this property and Peakvenues, and I would definitely consider using them again in the future.
We hired all three cottages for our annual family holiday in total 21 people stayed. The cottages are well equipped with everything you would possibly want and need in a home.
We met the owner Mark who was very nice and very accomodating to the requests we had.
The living spaces are cosy and beautifully designed to make you feel at home.
The kitchens in particular the kitchen in 'The Star' is quite simply exquisite and spacious for you to cook and socialise at the same time, we virtually lived in there.
Every bedroom is designed in a contempary but cosy and elegant way to suit both male and females and they are spacious and very well equipped. The beds are extremely comfortable and we all slept very well.
The location is a in a very quiet village but near to shops - approximately 15 mins drive away which when you're a City girl took some getting used to however it was a welcome change because bakewell town is lovely.
There are great activities to do near by so although you are staying in a village the location is great for various activities.
We brought the childrens bikes with us and went bike riding at Chatsworth house which was great unfortunately we ran out of time to go and see the house but it looked beautiful.
We went to baked well pottery this was one of our highlights because it catered for all ages and we throughly enjoyed ourselves - the lady in the shop was amazing.
Alton towers is a 45 min drive so we went to the theme park and waterpark.
I could go on and on about the accomodation and activities so i will try and wrap this up
Overall we had an amazing holiday mainly because the cottages and surrounding was simply beautiful, tranquil and just FANTASTIC!
I would certainly recommend and go back to 'The Star Taddington' cottages again.
Wow! This is a special venue....beautifully furnished with absolutely everything 28 guests may require to ensure a relaxing and fun family weekend together. The central kitchen / dining area is not only beautiful with its spectacular glass domed ceiling but practical as well, with plenty of space for those cooking to enjoy conversations with those not on cooking rota! It really was the hub of the venue.the other 2 cottages at either side were all of the same high quality and afforded some space and privacy from the main hub bub.
The furnishings and decoration create a relaxing atmosphere with lots of areas for guests to mingle. The kitchen had everything required...more than enough crockery, glassware and cutlery to fill both dishwashers. Having double of everything in the kitchen was a real bonus and having extra fridges in the other 2 cottages meant there was more than enough space for all the food and drinks. We all sat around the huge square table using the 2 benches along with the chairs.
The bathrooms were fabulous...extremely clean, lots of hot water for the luxurious power showers and big soft white towels. The beds were huge with superb white linens . The family rooms with the bunk beds were very spacious and so practical for those with smaller children. The location in the village meant we were near to so many walks straight from the door. The garden was enclosed with fencing and safe for the little ones. Am delighted to highly recommend The Star. Mark, the owner, lived nearby and was there if we needed him but otherwise left us to enjoy his beautiful cottages.
Emily's Hen Party. We loved this place. Star house had a lovely conservatory where everyone met up and due to the close proximity of the large kitchen were able to eat. The gardens were beautiful - we were lucky with the weather and able to enjoy them. The bedrooms were spacious and comfortable. The cottages were all very clean. Those who were more able went to the challenge of Go Ape situated near to Buxton. On the Saturday evening we went out to the French Brasserie Bar in Buxton, the food was excellent and everyone enjoyed it. On the Sunday we hired the village hall, for a French CanCan Dance Class. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. Morrisons Supermarket minutes away by car, very helpful and we ordered a delivery for the weekend's food. So much more to do that we didn't have time for it all. Didn't want to do home. would highly recommend this venue.
Great location in a lovely, pretty village. We enjoyed having the 2 cottages joined on, as it meant our party could have some more space and a bit of downtime. Highlight of the house is the large kitchen and glass roofed dining room, it is great for entertaining and we could fit 18 comfortably around the large square table. The patio has benches so we enjoyed the sunshine sat outside on the sunday morning before we left. Highly recommend staying here.
We had a fantastic time at The Star at Taddington. It was even better than the photographs, had everything we needed and more, all the extra touches like blankets made it feel so homely. We were pleased to find lots of ice too in the freezer - that would have been hard to travel with or make in time for our first g & t!
The sunken dining area is just so special, we hung fairy lights around making it very atmospheric each evening. The view beyond the garden to the lambs in the field was lovely. The garden was just about big enough for our group of lively 10 year olds. The children had a great time sharing rooms with their cousins, loving the bunk beds and having their own en-suits. All the bedrooms were gorgeous. We had fun with the billiards table, enjoyed long walks from the village, a long bike ride and two trips to the award winning pub recommended by Peak Venues, The Royal Oak, only a short drive away.
We booked a caterer - Scoff, for our Saturday evening and the food was superb.
All in all it was a fantastic venue for our party of 17, ranging from 8yrs to 60 something's!
I think we would all love to come again, although I cannot imagine we could be so lucky with the weather again as we had wall to wall sun which in early April had us eating our breakfasts each day in the garden. Divine.
