“Must stay at guest house”
Reviewed April 4, 2011 for a stay in March 2011

We have stayed at this guest house many times over the last five years. Beautiful and homely. Service by the owners is excellent, very friendly and welcoming. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Food is all home cooked and lots of choice for breakfast. Situated on a lovely quiet road with lots of character buildings, close to the town centre and a very good base for exploring the Peak District. We never get tired of going back. With kids aged 11 and 14, they look forward to a yearly trip to Stoneridge.

Claire and Duncan are ideal hosts. The rooms are well appointed and clean. The breakfast is superb, the location is peaceful. What more can you want?

“Lovely Guest House with comfortable, friendly atmosphere.”
Reviewed April 4, 2011 for a stay in August 2010

This was my third stay at the Stoneridge. I go to Buxton annually to perform there in August & have had mixed experiences with the hotels there, so decided to try a Guest House instead.
From the moment I walked in I knew I'd made the right choice. Claire was there to great us (with Hamish the Westie) & chatted as she showed us our room & gave us the key.
The room was comfortable & clean. We didn't spend much time actually in there as we were needed for rehearsals & performance. However, coming & going, we often bumped into Claire, Andrew &/or Hamish. The two former are always happy to chat & take an interest in what we are doing. Hamish appreciates a pat.
Breakfasts are large with masses of fresh fruit, cereals, fruit juice, yogurt & a very tasty full English. The sausages are particularly good.
There is a guest lounge available, but we have never had time to use it. There is also a fairly large garden.
The Stoneridge has a smallish car park but that is ample as it there are limited rooms there.
It is very close to the town centre, but not on a busy road, so it is very quiet. I am a poor sleeper & some of the local hotels are on the very busy main road & this is noisy.
We have booked to stay there again this August & I am looking forward to it.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Stoneridge & in fact I have to a couple of people.

“Hotel standard B&B”
Reviewed April 4, 2011 for a stay in March 2011

I've stayed at Stoneridge a couple of times - once with my wife and daughter, once on my own. Both times were simply fabulous. Boutique style decor, with 5 star touches in the rooms - all the right toiletries, coffees etc. Absolutely gorgeous breakfasts - the fruit spread alone would be all you needed, but add to that the full fry up and you're sorted. Really really good place to stay.

“The only place to stay in Buxton”
Reviewed April 4, 2011 for a stay in March 2011

This was our second stay at Stoneridge, since it was recommended to us. We are frequent visitors to Buxton and have stayed in many different B&B's here in the past. However we will only stay at Stoneridge from now on. Claire is a wonderful host, friendly, helpful and discreet.
The house is renovated beautifully and to very high standards. The breakfasts are excellent with lots of choice and are served at individual tables eliminating the need to chat with strangers first thing in the morning! The rooms are bright, modern, comfortable and spotlessly clean. The location is perfect for walking into town, visiting the Buxton Opera House and Pavillion Gardens. There are many local pubs and restaurants within a short walk as well. I highly recommend Stoneridge for your next trip to this area you will not be disappointed.

“Probably the best B&B ever”
Reviewed April 3, 2011 for a stay in January 2011

If you are looking for a warm welcome, a comfortable room and to breakfast like a king, then this is the B&B for you. I have stayed at the Stoneridge over five times and feel that Claire, is an outstanding host, who not only makes you feel at home but is a fantastic cook offering what is one of the breakfasts I have ever had (even the vegitarian options are wide and varied) Claire also offers a range of evening meals that are home cooked and tasty.

For all you mountain bikers, cyclists and walkers out there who wish to explore the peak district, Stoneridge offers you safe storage for your bikes/equipment, hearty meals and a warm friendly environment.

It is situated a short walk from the town centre, so if you wish to eat out, discover Buxton or enjoy one of the many theatres/shows Buxton has to offer it is ideally situated.

I look forward to seeing Claire and her family and Hamish (The family's Westtie) again very soon.

CJ

PS I am a seasoned business traveller having done over 40,000 miles a year for 20 plus years and there are a lot of 4 & 5 star hotels out there that could learn a thing or two from Claire on how to put together a great breakfast and the true meaning of hospitality.
